Hello everyone! Newbie watch enthusiast here. I have my eyes on a Tag for my first real watch. Any recommendations for something around $800-$1000 retail price? I want something that I can wear everyday that can be dressed up or down. Thanks!

I thinking Chronograph, bracelet. I'm still undecided as far as quartz or automatic. Since it's an everyday watch, I'm thinking automatic? Not sure of actual case dimension, but I do seem to be drawn to a wider face watch. I appreciate any insights.

This is the watch that got me interested in watches. It was a birthday gift.

My wrist measures 7".
Keep in mind, autos are typically more expensive, especially if buying new at an AD. But gotcha, do you own any watches currently? How big is your wrist?

I like the looks of that Invicta. Very light and summer watch looking. Good color combos. That Tag you're interested would be a great option. The Formula 1 series from Tag are great watches that wear very well on the wrist. The quartz chronos will wear slimmer and much better than the autos which are 44mm and pretty thick. In addition to the model you posted I pasted some models I also like below. Being new here I will tell you that most on here will steer you to autos. I've had tons of watches and honestly it makes little difference which type I wear now. And I wear both regularly with quartz becoming more frequent nowadays. With autos, you're pretty much looking at a three hand watch and quartz will be able to pack more features in a smaller package if you want a chrono and will be less expensive. Wear what you like is the #1 rule to follow.

Also note there may be some strong opinion on these forums for or against brands and that in general if a brand is well known and makes a quality watch which Tag, Breitiling, Tudor, Rolex all do so take any strong advice to steer away or gravitate towards a particular brand with a grain of salt because they're all great watches. You can't get to where they are with just marketing so they have to make great watches too. Remember, there's only so much you can do with the metal in a watch which is mostly done by any brand after about $700.00 so after that it's just nitpicking and preference. So that's why I subscribe to wear what you like because at the end of the day nobody really pays attention to what you're wearing or will notice so if you like it that's all that matters. I'm at the point in collecting now where I'm just having fun with it like I used to when I first started and it's so much better like that. Welcome and enjoy. My advice is to get out while you can because it can get VERY expensive. :)

Thanks so much for the advice and surely noted. I do like the look of those models. Any other brands or models that come to mind along these lines?
Oris has great racing themed watches. I have an Artix GT AudiSport and Oris TT3 Chrono. They make tons of them. And you can find some Porsche Design watches for reasonable prices well under a grand on the bay for some models. Tag to me makes some of the best racing themed watches and with a good quartz variety too. Christopher Ward is another that has both auto and quartz. Autodromo, Casio Edifice, Detomaso. Tissot has a bunch. I have a motogp watch from Tissot.
Here's a racing themed thread that cost me money. It made me look up the Oris and I had to buy one. Some nice variety of watches in this thread.
