The Roger W. Smith Studio is delighted to share the latest article in Roger’s website Journal about the sale of 'The Blue' in the closing weeks of 2019.

The private sale by A Collected Man achieved an unprecedented price of £1m, which reflected the horological importance of this wristwatch.

Designed by George Daniels and built by Roger (his first handcrafted wristwatch in fact), this tourbillon had become something of a ‘legend’ since it was delivered in 2006.

The story of the sale was heralded by superb articles in Hodinkee and SJX but our Journal, to which you can link h e r e has an in depth interview with Roger about his recollections of building The Blue and his thoughts on its sale.

They have also taken this opportunity to update the Timeline feature on their website. If you haven’t visited this before, it does provide an engaging trip through time from the 1980s to 2020!

Finally, they have updated the series 1, 2 and 5 watches to reflect the availability of the new 38mm case size, to complement the existing 40mm.

One must take the word "availability" with a grain of salt, with regard to any Smith watch.....
