I need to say the blue on the SPB149 is a lot darker than how it appears in photos when it isn't in direct sunlight.

I don’t see how the U50 is winning this beyond people just like the watch. It is the least likely to look good in a business casual environment because it is very much a tool watch.

The SPB143 has a terrific and muted look that seems to best fit the post’s states requirements. It could look good with a sport coat whereas the U50 would look to much like a tool watch in my eyes.

To each their own I suppose. But the U50 is a hard no for me for the job the poster wants it to do.

My vote would go for the Seiko SPB. Very robust daily; can be dressed up a bit if needed. Can also be had at a decent discount to MSRP.

The Sinn is a nice piece, but not the best bang per buck given the movement is run of the mill ETA; in that range I would start looking at preowned Black Bay 58 w/inhouse movement.

The new Aquaracer 200 is very stylish. Of the bunch, it’s the most suited for the occasional date night out. It’ll be easy to maintain. Reasonable minds can differ, but I see it as a real future classic for Tag Heuer and a worthy contender for anyone’s GADA piece.

From provided selection I would choose Archimede - it looks nicer and has hardened steel case.
I would also look at Dekla Turbulenz - option for hardened steel case, different dial colors and index options, configurable second hand color.

Those are great choices...I would add the titanium 38mm hamilton khakis or the new 38mm Murph...those could do the trick while looking good and not breaking the bank

I was looking for a watch with the same criteria recently, trying to decide between Damasko, Sinn and Archimede for a thin everyday bulletproof tool watch that can take a beating. Ended up with a Citizen Promaster Diver.

The Sinn EZM. I like chrono's and I don't mind thickness all that much.

I'm looking for a toolish watch that can take hiking, running, mowing the lawn, swimming, grilling, fixing cars, drilling, kids and pets. It also needs to be good for traveling, not being interesting for mugging and can take a wife to dinner after a busy day (while traveling).

And it shouldn't be too big or tall for my flimsy 6,7 inch wrist.

This won't be my only watch, i have nice watches for office work, going out, etc. But i miss having a watch for afternoons and weekends where I don't want to be very worried about a watch getting a bump or two. But i still want it to be a watch to be proud on and happy to look at.

So my ideas are as follows, but feel free to add your own or endorse one of them. They are listed in no extra order. All are between 39 and 41.5 mm and 11 to 13.5 mm thick. All have a bracelet which is something i want. Prices are close (new or used) but it's clear Tag and Sinn are more expensive so i would go in preowned market for them, followed by Seiko, Archimede and Guinault.

Both are heavy duty watches with plenty WR and even hardened steel. Automatic, not quartz. 200 is 39mm, diver is bigger at 41,5 mm. Thickness is good at 12mm for both.

Seiko spb 143 and 149

Well known company, both nice divers. 143 is classic, 149 brings some fun with color but maybe too much for evening serious dinner. Both at bigger size at 40.5 mm and 13.2 mm thickness.

Guinalt Silent Service

Interesting pick but i like the design. I don't know much about the company. Looks like American so i should also pay import tax. Saphire bezel. Good size at 41mm and 12.1mm thickness.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer 200 quartz

The only quartz here but it would fit the tool watch category. It's not a problem for me. Size is very good at 40mm and only 11mm thickness. Looks good too.

Sinn U50 Tegiment

Very known tool watch. Maybe even too toolish. Good size at 41mm and only 11,5mm thick. Hardened Steel.

SINN EMZ 13.1

I'm only adding this one, because i like it a lot but it's way too thick at 41mm and huge 15 mm.

This is what i selected so far. Any real world experiences with any of these watches would be great to share here. Any other ideas also.
I don’t know why this site loves Sinn so much. I think their watches are ugly as hell.
