Nice tool watch as GADA

I'm looking for a toolish watch that can take hiking, running, mowing the lawn, swimming, grilling, fixing cars, drilling, kids and pets. It also needs to be good for traveling, not being interesting for mugging and can take a wife to dinner after a busy day (while traveling).

And it shouldn't be too big or tall for my flimsy 6,7 inch wrist.

This won't be my only watch, i have nice watches for office work, going out, etc. But i miss having a watch for afternoons and weekends where I don't want to be very worried about a watch getting a bump or two. But i still want it to be a watch to be proud on and happy to look at.

So my ideas are as follows, but feel free to add your own or endorse one of them. They are listed in no extra order. All are between 39 and 41.5 mm and 11 to 13.5 mm thick. All have a bracelet which is something i want. Prices are close (new or used) but it's clear Tag and Sinn are more expensive so i would go in preowned market for them, followed by Seiko, Archimede and Guinault.

Both are heavy duty watches with plenty WR and even hardened steel. Automatic, not quartz. 200 is 39mm, diver is bigger at 41,5 mm. Thickness is good at 12mm for both.

Seiko spb 143 and 149

Well known company, both nice divers. 143 is classic, 149 brings some fun with color but maybe too much for evening serious dinner. Both at bigger size at 40.5 mm and 13.2 mm thickness.

Guinalt Silent Service

Interesting pick but i like the design. I don't know much about the company. Looks like American so i should also pay import tax. Saphire bezel. Good size at 41mm and 12.1mm thickness.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer 200 quartz

The only quartz here but it would fit the tool watch category. It's not a problem for me. Size is very good at 40mm and only 11mm thickness. Looks good too.

Sinn U50 Tegiment

Very known tool watch. Maybe even too toolish. Good size at 41mm and only 11,5mm thick. Hardened Steel.

SINN EMZ 13.1

I'm only adding this one, because i like it a lot but it's way too thick at 41mm and huge 15 mm.

This is what i selected so far. Any real world experiences with any of these watches would be great to share here. Any other ideas also.

I don’t know why this site loves Sinn so much. I think their watches are ugly as hell.
Not all Sinn's are ugly, for sure. But people like Sinn because they're quite 'techy', not exhorbitantly priced, often with a hardened case, and it's something else than the usual fair.

I don’t judge anyone for liking them, but it’s something I could never do myself.

That's Ok. I have brands I don't like either. I just tried to answer your question why folk like Sinn :)

The heart wants the Sinn U50... but at dinner with the wife is the one place it might fall flat (with my wife at least). SPB143 FTW. Amazingly versatile watch
When I consider the phrase "tool watch GADA", the Sinn 104 immediately comes to mind.

Depends on where you put the emphasis. My choices are: tool watch = U50, GADA = SPB143. Voted latter.
I love both the SPB143 and 149. Since this is GADA, I'm going with the SPB143 as I believe the grey makes it more versatile.
Sinn U50 … for dinner with wife I would wear a long sleeve shirt (if possible) as the U50 fits smoothly under a shirt cuff, and if not … who is really watching???
I don’t think a GADA watch should have a dive bezel, but maybe that’s just me.

Definitely the TAG. I find myself grabbing mine more times than not because it goes with almost anything and is always ready to go.

I'll strap on my GW6900 for morning workouts, but then throw on the TAG for the rest of the day. I still planning on getting either a Chronomaster or GS 9F to scratch the HAQ itch, but for now the Aquaracer probably gets the most wrist time. If I can rock it with a flannel, it works for me.

I'd wait for the New Monta Oceanking or look for a preowned 2nd gen.

If quartz is an option I'd go for a Citizen PMD56 or an Oceanus T200

Traska is a good inexpensive option. all thier watches have a special coating that increases the hardness of the steel making it virtually scratch proof (from what I've read)

From your suggestions I'd go Silent Service. Import tax is usually covered by Ginault or at least it was when I bought mine.

I voted for the Sinn U50, but I think you should consider the Sinn 556, or 104. The Sinn U50 is a bit too toolish for GADA.
Honestly, any of these watches would work just fine. I bought this one from your list and for a weekend/trip/rugged watch it's fantastic. And at only 11mm thick, it's easily hidden under a cuff at dinner.

Another suggestion is the CW Sealander that will do it all, has a great bracelet, 150m water resistance and good 39mm size. Or a 40mm C60 300 if you want a dive watch.

And use a $100 G-Shock for drilling, yard work and car repair.
