Hi all, glad to finally be in the Railmaster club. I just picked up a 36mm example (2504.52) for myself, just the watch and box, no papers, and with some pretty heavy wear all over the case and bracelet (though I wear mine on a leather strap) but I think the price reflected that. Absolutely incredible piece. Shockingly, despite the scratches and scuffs all over the watch, the bezel and bracelet particularly (plus a nice battle scar across the top right lug), the 2008 piece still has the red dot on the case back! So, never serviced, never opened, and from the looks of it, never polished. Which means I should probably take this in for a service. Not sure if I should ask for a light polishing (keep those sharp twisted lugs!!) on the bezel, where the scratches are the most noticeable -- or if I should take some Cape Cod to the bezel taping off the rest. The bracelet came in a poor state, very dirty, missing links, worn out clasp, and looks like it was never removed from the head due to the gunk and grime left behind -- good thing I wear mine on a strap 99% of the time! Though I am thinking of picking up a Forstner flat link bracelet for when I want a change.
For reference, my previous daily wearer was a 2504.50 36mm black dial Aqua Terra, and before that my father's two-tone 1601 from 1960 which I inherited (but is in desperate need of a service), so slapping this one on felt like a pair of old shoes for me. But I haven't been able to shake the feeling of wanting one of these Railmasters (and the very reflective dial of the AT is sometimes very annoying when glancing at the time, as I was warned by a couple other forum members). All that to say, really pleased to finally have found one of my grails in this 36mm Railmaster!
