So I got this huge monster a while ago.
I want to restore the case, as the plating is in terrible bad condition.

It's a 40 micron layer, which is too thick to remove for the local plating shop

The only option I can think of now is to sand it down, polish it and have it replated. Any other ideas? Sanding would take many many hours as I don't want to mess up any of the edges. :-x

That's real gold used in plating the case. Don't sand it, buff it, or refinish it~Cheers! ;-)
