Hi everyone,

I just got this Omega Constellation Pie Pan Hidden Crown for 800€.
It's a 168.004 Cal. 561 - 1963 ?

My questions for you the experts would be:
i) to me it's a real one, right?
ii) is the dial patina acceptable?
iii) the crown is not original and not signed. Is it difficult to get a new one?
iV) any other opinions about the watch are welcome.

Thank you for your feedbacks.
Merci beaucoup !

You probably have read Desmond's blog, right? If not, this is the first place to check: Dial Update

i) I am by no means an expert, but your watch seems fine to me. The pictures are not to detailed, but the text seems good to me. The dial checks out the MOY test, there is no lume either in the hands or the dial in accordance with the missing T's next to the "Swiss made" text. Although it is hard to tell by the low res pictures, it seems that the indices are onyx filled and not painted which is in line with the early sixties date suggested by the 20 million movement. The shape of the date window looks good, and the length of the hands seems all right to me, too.

ii) In my opinion, the patina is a question of personal preference. If you like it, enjoy it!

iii) To find the correct crown, this can be a good place to start: Omega Watch Crowns

You will have a piece of watch history on your wrist!

Hi Rollcow,

Thank you for your comments.
I have looked over Desmond's blog several times. Precious readings.
Thanks also for the ofrei.com website. Will check on it for a new crown.

I am clearly not experienced enough in Omega's vintage watches...

Have a good day,

Beautiful watch, one of Omega's finest if you ask me. I also have one after my father, at the top of the picture here. The only one I could find, sorry it's not more detailed.
