Could someone please tell me more about this watch. I’ve recently been thinking about purchasing it, and was wondering if it’s just a passing fad or a hidden gem. Personally, I love it. I’m just not sure if it’s worth upwards of 5000$.

It uses an Omega 1221, which is based off of what Omega called their ETA 2892 (I think it was 1120). Nothing groundbreaking about the movement, just how it displays time. The fact that its valuation is around 5k (I presume USD) means there's either not a lot left in circulation or there's some collector's value in it. It's a handsome jump hour (though I don't know if the 1221 actually jumps or they took the lazy way out and just put a disc on the hour hand; I would hope not but Omega in the 90s weren't all that great) so if you like it go for it. Keep in mind it'll need a service so factor that in, though a 2892 shouldn't cost much.

These models are not common but they aren't exactly rare either. There is usually some kind of variation for sale at any given time.

the 5K price seems pretty standard for a SS model so you aren't getting a deal, but you aren't getting over charged either.

I've owned mine for about a year and a half and love it. Its the watch in my collection that gets the most appreciation by non-watch people just because of the interesting jumping hour complication. I will say its quite small so be aware of that. The jump happens immediately and doesn't "wonder" like some date wheels do. Another unique thing I didn't appreciate until I owned it is that the crystal is insanely close to the dial. because there's only one hand which looks really cool. Looks great on brown leather.

I've owned this watch and can say,in my eyes, it is absolutely not worth $5K - I sold mine for $2K as I didn't think it was worth it even at that.

The jump hour is cool, and if you're diehard Omega collector then the uniqueness in the Omega catalog may be worth it. Overall, I felt the dial and hand was very cheaply stamped and the finish and fit was lacking. It was a cool watch but felt very cheap to me, so for under $2K it made sense for me, above it there are loads of watches that I think feel much nicer.
