Omega T-Shirt

4952 Views 14 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Vlciudoli
Hi Guys,
one evening to pass the time I decided to make a shirt inspired by the Omega Speedmaster, i've seen other brands but Omega ever.
I started with some photos of the dial and the hippocampus. I worked the images and I turned it into vector files. Then I programmed a textile machine and ....... total production of 1 piece.
I only put some photos of my watch on a T-shirt but I think I have violated any copyrights:think:……. here's the result.
The shirt is a gift for my friend gippo :)

PS: I'm sorry if my english isn't perfect :-d

The only problem is that animal is the symbol of Seamaster.

Strange as it may seem, the Speedmaster was considered part of the Seamaster line.

The Hippocampus remains on the back of Speedmasters even today.

Now I know! :) BTW, there is a lot of Rolex t-shirts on Ebay and no Omega at all. Maybe it's the business opportunity.
Looks good to me,nice idea.
To the OP: Making one or two of these t-shirts for yourself or a friend likely will not draw the ire of Omega's IP Police. However, collect even a few centavos for your handiwork and you might find their forbearance lessened considerably. Proceed with caution.

P.S. - Lovely work, BTW.

What would it take to legally produce these? I think there's a definite market for them, even if it's limited to Watchuseek members. Perhaps an arrangement whereby after production cost profits are donated to charity?
Great work, I love it. I would definitely buy one if it was available...

I would start by going here and entering a request: https://ccm.omegawatches.com/en/

Explain that you want to create a t-shirt exclusively for members of WatchUseek and the cost to buyers would be the same as cost of production and shipping, with any incidental profits being donated to charity. Point out that, although Rolex has t-shirts, Omega does not, and there are many Omega fans on WUS who would wear their brand preference with pride.

Plan on resending the request at least three times until you get a response. And don't hold your breath expecting permission. They likely will not give it.

A better idea would be for the OP to email his vector files to whomever on WUSOF requested them, so that they could get their personal shirts made at a local t-shirt shop. If 300 WUS members created 300 t-shirts using 300 different t-shirt shops, that would be a bit daunting for Omega's objections.

FWIW, there is an international printing company whose name begins with 'vista' and ends with 'print' who will create custom t-shirts in any quantity from one on up, using only standard image files. So you could use their website design interface to establish the typeface for copy, add your own photo of your favorite Omega and - voilà - you'd receive your custom t-shirt in a week or two. We could even start a thread (or use this one) for all to display their unique Omega t-shirts.

Watch out - this route tripped up fufluns and his drawing, which was his original artwork.
Were sanctions imposed upon fufluns?

Certainly not by Omega. The hippocampus is not something that belongs only to them. His rendering was original art, protected by international treaties and common law. He simply ran afoul of WUS rules, which prohibit any commercial activity (even if it is a money-losing activity) when not a sponsor or having Ernie's approval.
Thank you. I hadn't realised.
