The one hand watches crossed my mind today when I read about the JCK in Las Vegas and know that Meistersinger is exhibiting there. I then wondered how many one hand watch brands we have worldwide?

My list:

• Botta-Design
• Meistersinger
• Neuhaus (check their JANUS DoubleSpeed special edition in Red Gold below)
• Slow

How many other brands are out there offering a one hander?

The singular hand is simply an elongated hour hand, and the smaller markers between the hour markers are used to determine the (approximate) minute within each hour. The markers between the hour markers can represent 5, 10, or 15 minute intervals, depending on the watch, meaning singular hand watches aren't the most useful for determining the time to the exact minute, but work fine for showing the approximate time, within a few minutes.

Rainer Nienaber makes two (so long as you don't count the seconds subdial)--the Antero, whose hour hand jumps past the seconds subdial so it's never obscured, and a version that does not jump.

I held a MeisterSinger No1 in my hands a couple of weeks ago and I was mightily impressed. It looked and felt far better and expensive then the pictures suggest.

I'm quite fond of my Perigraph; coincidentally, happen to be wearing it today. Easy to tell the time within a minute or so once you get used to it; gets more comments than any other watch I wear.
