·My Orient Eminence is about a month old. I've worn it sparingly, keeping it in a winder when not in use. I didn't measure its accuracy but it seemed it was gaining very little time over the last month, in line with my other mechanicals.
I spent a week in the Rockies and took my watch with me. I had it in a padded watch travel case, which was surrounded by clothing in my carry-on suitcase. I couldn't tell you if the problem started on the outbound trip or while there, since I had to adjust for the time chance, and only wore it for a couple of days out there.
After I came back, I noticed it was gaining as much as 5 minutes per day! After a week of this, I let it completely unwind, then re-set it and put it back in the winder. Now it's running accurately again.
I'm at a loss to explain this. Was it the altitude? Did it incur some physical shock while en route? I was ready to send it in to Orient for service when it finally settled down. I'm still keeping my eye on it, but after another week it's running fine.
The watch is an Esteem, not an Eminence. Sorry for the error in the thread title.
