Does anyone have experience with both? I currently have the Chr Ward 43 and its a tad big and heavy for me. Does the Oris wear similar or smaller?

IMO the Aquis wears a little smaller (or seems to at least), however I also think its worth mentioning that the Trident wears its biggest on the bracelet. I put mine on leather and rubber and it wears like a charm (feels much smaller and less bulky than when on the bracelet). Before you switch pieces I would give that a go if you havent already.

I could see that. The braclet is amazing quality and therefore a bit blingy so sticks out more.

I don't think the Aquis necessarily "wears big", but it's heavy. I just weighed mine and on the bracelet it's 190g.

Both of the watches are available in smaller sizes, the Oris Aquis Date 40mm and C.Ward Trident 38mm. So why not just drop down a size?

I used to have CW Tridents in both 43mm and 38mm but now just have two 38mm Tridents, and I also have a 40mm Aquis Date. I have a 6.75" wrist and both wear really well, and I believe look so much better on than the larger sizes.

The finish on the oris in my opinion is a lot better than the trident. Regarding the size I had a 43mm cw trident 600 gmt on a bracelet and it feels bigger than my aquis.

The Aquis does wear a bit smaller than the C60 due to its short lugs. The bracelet is nicer too. I can't speak for the Ward rubber but Oris is fantastic so I assume that it wins in that category too.

IMHO the bezel makes the watch with regards to the Trident, its stunning in sunlight and really pops. I would get a colored bezel for sure over the black.

Its a big, chunky, top heavy watch but the lugs are short. I found it too chunky and heavy and sold mine, but was quite impressed by the dial and bezel.

The Oris is easier to wear IMO, doesn't feel as heavy.

However, I haven't worn either one on bracelet, only on rubber/leather straps and hence am not sure how the dynamic changes when the bracelet is included.

May I ask what is the lug to lug length of the 40mm Oris Aquis?

I've had them both and think they're both great. The C60 wore a bit too tall for me and i ended up selling it. The Oris does wear smaller and continues to be one of my favorites. The previous generation C60, while not as nice on paper, did wear much better and may be worth considering.

By my measurement the Oris Aquis Date 40 lug to lug is 46.5mm, and the CW Trident 38 is 45mm.
Thanks much appreciated! Good to know the Oris Aquis is small enough to fit on smaller wrist. That's reassuring indeed. I also have a 38mm trident as well. Cheers

One thing to keep in mind with the Trident vs the Aquis, you have normal lugs on the Trident so there's access to all sorts of straps - leather, NATO, bracelet, ... I guess there's are adapters for the Aquis "out of the box" you're restricted to Oris straps and bracelets.
