It depends on what other Watches (if any) you have in your collection.

If this purchase is to be your daily wear Watch, perhaps this might not be so suitable, in my opinion.

I saw one a few weeks ago, and tried it on.

This is a very good Watch.

At its full Recommended Retail Price, it is reasonably-priced, in my opinion.

Since you are able to obtain one at a heavily discounted price, if you love this Watch, purchase it and post some photos!

 

I have one and really like it. Due to the design it looks and wears smaller than the 40mm it is. Some may find the need to push in the button to set the time to be annoying, but it hasn't been an issue for me.

Here are some pictures I've previously posted of mine on the riveted strap. My wrist is about 6.75".

 

I would never do anything that might result in someone not getting an Oris so if it revs you engine go for it.

 

It is a great looking watch and something different. You won't see another very often, I say you need to go for it. (Especially if you have the chance to get it discounted)

 

I think it’s a spot on reproduction, beautiful timepiece.

That dial is something special. Is it made in a similar way to silver dials, but with gold?

 

The only thing that detracts me from this watch is the lack of a seconds hand. It would drive me bonkers not knowing if the watch is actually working or not.

Everything else about the watch looks great to me. I think the pusher to change the time is kinda cool and unique.

 

Thank you all for your kind and most helpful feedback. I pulled the trigger on the watch this weekend and should have it in the next 2-3 days. I will post wrist shots as soon as I have it in hand!

I finally got this watch last week and as promised here is the first wrist shot. It's a lovely piece and wears a little smaller than its' 40mm size would suggest. I suspect this is partly due to the "pocket watch" case and bezel. I do miss having a second hand, but since I love these "vintage-style" watches, I am seriously looking at getting the Longines Heritage 1918 Automatic to complement the Oris.

So I picked up the Longines Heritage 1918 to go with the Oris 1917 LE. Very similar yet quite different at the same time. I think they make a fine pair.
