So I took the plunge and bought myself a brand new Oris 65 Bronze Bezel

I had doubts regarding this or the Movember edition, long story short, this one gets picked.

And before questions arises, yes this isnt the original bracelet that comes with it, but at the moment of this writing Im wearing it with a jubilee and I personally think it adds an even more vintage aura on it.

Im not go all technical about this, since there are numerous already on the internet, but rather my point of view..

In a 3 word phrase, I love it.

Its not too large for my dainty wrists, and whats better is it wears very slim. Im really liking all the vintageesque features but with modern durability, and not to forget the double domed crystal is pleasing to my eye.

I dont see much patina (yet) on the bezel, despite my frequent usage, though there are some slight uneven discolouration here and there. Time will tell how it will turn out.

The glossy dial is superb, especially combined with the crystal, it creates a glistening effect that mesmerizes my eye.

Really like the layout as well of the dial, very symmetrical, and having the date window at 6 is just awesome. I dont know why alot of manufacturers especially on diver watches, opt to put it a 3 - theres nothing really wrong with that, but I personally think 6 is a nicer place. And additional detail such as having a black datewheel is plus, small detail but gives a huge overall aesthetic bonus - imagine having it a white datewheel (ugh)

Also I find this watch to be very versatile, I can gk with bracelets for a bit more manly look, jubilee for more vintage, straps for more casual, rubber for sportier times, and even black and browm croco strap for a more dressy option.

The crown is one if the best part of this watch, I find it very pleasing, very smooth, and turns and locks very very nicely. To be honest, even my Rolexes dont feel this smooth, and I have no idea why.

And all this for less than $1600 USD, I think is a bargain..

I really want to pull the trigger on one of these. I'm worried about the size though. I don't have a big wrist, about 7 inches but I feel like the 40mm will be too small. I'm used to wearing 42mm generally.

I tried the Hamilton Khaki King and it feels ever so slightly small and it's also a 40mm. Not sure how the Oris wears though.

What is your wrist size?

Im around 6.75", believe me it wont be too small.. whilst the 42mm does command more presence, to 40 is a great size especially lug to lug..

While the 42mm wont be too large either, Im honestly put off by the date window and 21mm lug width...

I also forgot, the khaki doesnt have a besel insert. While the 65 has an insert and same black coloured dial, hence giving an illusion that it is larger than it seems.

Compare any watches without black insert, against one with insert, and you'll know what I mean. (E.g. Explorer II vs Submarier)

40mm is the size I should be wearing really and it looks great on. I just can’t get over how slim it is as I’m more used to divers that are about as thin as paving slabs.

Yes, indeed, congratulations. It really is a classic look, and seems to fit your wrist size well. We are all fortunate that there are so many choices to fit not just our varying physiques (I have 7 3/4" wrists) but also our tastes. I have never owned an Oris, but this one makes me think - Enjoy !

Just curious, why wouldn't your AD get one in?

I mean he doesn't have any. He'd have to bring one in for me try. I have a different idea though. Amazon prime with free returns just to try it on ;)

Gotta love Amazon for that. But nonetheless I find this a very popular model in my country and and most ADs will have one in stock. Those that doesn't, usually because someone bought it off them!
