I'm thinking of buying the Oris Carl Brashear bronze watch... hopefully through a local AD since i cannot find the watch for sale anywhere online.

If I buy through a local dealer, am I going to have to settle for MSRP? I'm not sure if this watch is in high enough demand that asking for a discount will only have the dealer laughing at me.

As I understand it, these watches are already sold out at the distribution level, so if the dealer doesn't have it, they won't be able to order one from Oris?

Call Rob Caplan at Topper Fine Jewelers. He is a forum sponsor and AD for Oris. He'll be able to answer your questions better than any of us. Also, if you live outside of CA you'll save in taxes. Let us know how you make out.

I would ask for a better price whatever I was buying. Remember it is a quite ordinary movement inside and what you are paying for is the novelty of owning a bronze watch. I did try on this model but just could not justify the price.

I bought mine through an AD few months back @20% discount. Most of the watches around have so-called ordinary movements like Sellita or ETA but it's the case and finish that determines the price and value of a watch I believe.
