Firstly - impressive design, no doubt. Looks like a part off of a very old submarine. While 20mm is a bit absurd on the wrist, I'm sure this watch wasn't designed to be a daily wearer (well, for me it wouldn't be at least!). I love the innovation in this watch design and I'd love to know how compression makes the watch water-tight without any gaskets. There must be a gasket somewhere in there!

I'd REALLY like to see an exploded diagram of this sucker - it's called PITA because it's gonna be a pain in the ass to fix!

of course, this is a design milestone and not a commercial watch,
i doubt pita will mass produce it, we are talking about " haute couture"
of watchmaking..what its interesting here is the concept.

here you have a video of how it works

But just in case this is an interesting comparation from RRUEGGER

I love looking at that watch. Although it has been on the horizon for quite a while, I think it is about the coolest new watch to come out in a long time. Wish I had the money to pick one up.

Re: Pita Re Ocenana Just released

certainly very innovative in some areas, but calling it haute couture, would be doing the word an injustice. :-d

glad to see that the watch is actually going into production. i think the prototype hands are much better looking than the ones they went with in the final version.

encasing the movement like that is a real concern re:service options and their maintenance program is real pricey. if they had made the watch more conventional in some ways, i'd probably have sprung for one even though the 20mm thickness would make it strictly, a short-sleeve wearer.

it'll be swell to read a review or two if someone one the forums gets one...guess we'll see.

It's a wonderful piece of watchmaking, but that thickness will make it a door frame knocker for sure :)

Slap on a couple of sword hands and you´ve got yourself a pretty descent deskdiver...
me

The "hidden lug" design is however a no no for me...

I'm with you Snogge....never a fan of hooded/hidden lugs

Big fan of domed crystal....but it's a lot of cash for a nice domed crystal.

I, too, share concerns around servicing

The paint on that center seconds hand is really bad. Stuff like that bothers me. Overall though I think it's a super cool design. Nice watch for sure.

Re: Pita Re Ocenana Just released

Too bad the 20,000 feet isn't in these charts. It costs less than the Pita and goes deeper.

Not that I dislike the Pita, actually, it is a very interesting watch, and if I had the dough right now, I'd definitely get it.

However, I was disappointed in one thing: They advertized their 5,000m WR more than a year ago - probably closer to 2 years ago. They made it look like this was going to be the World Record watch. And we waited and waited. Then just weeks if not days before Basel last year, CX Swiss Military dropped the bomb on the 20,000 feet which became available shortly thereafter.

What has Pita been doing in the mean time? And now it gets finally released...

But enough with the dissing. I really love the look of the watch, and I think it's well worth the money. It's just a tidbit late IMHO.

Cheers,
Dan
