I believe this watch is a fake:

I may be wrong. Not interested in the watch but at the price it is at it would be an expensive paper weight at best :)

It sure is. It's a mish-mash of different generations of PO Chrono
Yeah your definitely right there are a few tells that it’s not a genuine article

Are there any "tells" that it could be genuine?

There are a million tells in the listing that this is counterfeit and that the seller knows it.

I was actually starting a message to the seller until I re-read his description:
"Note: I don’t know much/anything about watches. I do know this was a expensive watch when purchased approximately 20 years ago. Please use pictures and video as the exact description, prof the watch is working & exact condition of the watch and bid accordingly. Thank you very much!
Winning bidder to pay $21.99 for USPS priority shipping. "

He is implying that he bought it - but if he did, then he knows it is a $20 counterfeit and he is guilty of attempted felony fraud (until he sells it, and then it is merely felony fraud)
I won’t list the tells here as I know discussing fakes are frowned upon

what is interesting is they state it works and is in good working order …. But the crown is missing … how is it working order if you cannot set the time ?

I have tried to report various listings on eBay but find very rarely any action is taken i just feel sorry for the new owner dropping a chunk of cash down on this if they believe it’s is genuine
Won’t the eBay authentication protect the potential victim of this fraud?
It’s also a Quartz which correct me if I am wrong … this model was not available in Quartz

which is why it’s still working without the crown and the chronograph hand is actually the second hand
That's what i thought. I emailed the seller letting him know but i never got a response

Only if it reaches $2000 I believe.

Let’s make sure it does!

It is at $2450 now, so it'll go through "the process". I suspect it'll get flagged there.

It is back down to $1500 now. Seller is becoming very aggressive and according to him "I should mind my own business" :)
I had bid it up to fifty grand to scupper the sale but it’s been cancelled. Anyone else want to take over?
Writing the seller is useless as he clearly knows that he is selling a $20 counterfeit and doesn't know, or care, that he will be guilty of a felony if he sells it.

Everybody reading this thread needs to report it to eBay. Even if it doesn't get it taken down, it gives the buyer a bit more ammo to get a refund.

It is at $2025 now so it will go through the Ebay authenticator process.
I’ve reported it but I don’t have much faith in eBay removing it

hopefully the authenticity process will do its job I haven’t got any experience of how it works or how good it is
Loser relisted to avoid Authenticity Guarantee. Keep reporting the listing!

Oh God, someone bought it within an hour of him listing it
Okay, so the fact that he ended the second listing so quickly mixed with the fact that he has shown intent to knowingly sell a fake means one of you linked him to this thread. So now he'll be able to counter our efforts to block the sale of his fake. FAIL.
Wasn't me because I decided not to write him after I figured out that he knew it was fake - but yes, he is certainly reading this thread as he also removed the reference to having bought the watch 20 years ago.

But that's OK - all of this will just make it easier to criminally charge him with felony fraud. I'm reporting this to eBay through the Law Enforcement portal, but please continue to report it as well.
That sucks, unbelievable, it was at $2025 this morning. What a crook.
