My father in law found it while cleaning up his stuff. He remembers this watch back from the 70's, but could not say when or to whom it was given to. It is written "SEIKO" on top as all do, beneath there's something written with Cyrillic alphabet letters, maybe? Or Japanese? And some kind of a red sun is printed bellow. Needless to say that as soon as I moved it after lying over 30 years in a box, the watch immediately started to work and it still does…
I will be more than happy if you guys will be able to shed some light on this. Thank a lot – Michael.

Hi Michael, the word is 'advan'.

Google 'Seiko advan' and a host of information should appear.

Hope this helps, Rich

Advan was a sub-brand of Seiko that was centered around unusual designs marketed mainly for the youth market. Mid-range mechanical, produced in Dec. 1974. Get a new crystal on it and you'll have a nice piece. 7039 is a good 21j movement. Can't remember if it hacks.
