Please help- I received this watch as inheritance from my great aunt who I did not well - and cant find information on it I have no clue what its worth or who made it , THe markings on it are as follows;

The watch dial is Labeled Frank P Wilde- Milwaukee
The crescent case has the crescent moon and star- guaranteed 25 yrs numbered 1487666
on the movement it has no makers mark but has the number 1516906
21 Ruby Jeweled - inscribed on movement as well as Adjusted - and Safety Pinion inscribed
on the case there are rim around the movement it has the number 7666
That is all I know - an antique dealer looked at it for a few minutes and offered me 100 dollars but I feel that it is worth more as I think it dates around 1873-1904- so I passed on his offer as the movement and dial works great- holds time great
There are other hand inscribed markings but I cant decipher them. Thanks so much - Im brand new here and the help thus far is amzing as I posted in wrong forums and was directed to the gurus of this forum!!!

Please refer to the forum rules and guidelines in regards to valuations on watches. In regards to your other collections, I have a lot of those as well, and you might possibly get bitten by the watch bug as well!

Hi
When I first looked at this watch movement, I thought 'Swiss Made' because of the bridge style.
named private label, using a Swiss movement?
Really this is an Illinois - american movement?

I wasn't really sure what the movement was either, but I thought I had seen it before. Just narrowed it down to the brands I knew it might be.

Ah!
My feeling that is a Swiss movement with the three finger bridge.

Maybe others will correct me! But I think Swiss

Do a google search for "Illinois Pockewatch Getty" Adam; it's a pretty distinctive looking model with the single exposed winding wheel and the crescent shaped click. Rejecting the buyers offer of $100 was probably a good move; most of the "Getty" models on eBay sell for significantly more then that, and often with lower-quality versions of the movement.

Adam: the three fingered bridge design, if not common on American watches, was used by Illinois as in this thread as well as Elgin who made many. Do a search for the Elgin 280. As far as other American companies I don't know.

Thanks Ron
I never knew that.
Be seeing you soon, you can show me some good examples.
Still not sure if the OP posters watch is Illinois - see Enrico's post.
Thanks for posting
Sincerely
Adam

I have double checked this with the movements serial number, it is undoubtedly a Illinois movement.

The 189 is a superb watch-the best that Illinois made at the time.

You have a great piece!

And, yes, it is 100% an Illinois. To folks who look at very many of these, even the dial screams Illinois despite not being signed as such.
