Moved from Public to Vintage & Pocket Watch forum. Sellers hyperbole and low feedback count concern me.

I understand the concern. It was a cheap buy, and usually don't listen to sellers blah. I see the watch as a challenge and cool piece. Hopefully someone can give me info on it.

I'm afraid that you've been had, IMO. For a start, that watch is far too recent to be a trench watch! I'm not sure what the earliest date for that one is but it may well be post WWII, let alone WWI. For another thing, the movement is a cheapo pin lever with only the most basic chronograph so it would be pushing it for 70 bucks if it was in working condition. And since it isn't working, lacks all hands and shows signs of distinct wear, it might be just a parts watch and therefore ought to be rather cheaper than it is.

The movement looks like it ought to be by BFG (Baumgartner), possibly a slightly more complicated version of this one:

I know it's not a Trench. The swing lugs and look "not movement" look a lot like a 1932 Breitling monopusher. Have seen others with almost the same dial from that era. Nothing post WWII.

Hartmut, yes that is a crazy price for that Essex watch. Thankfully I didn't pay that for mine. The web site that has that watch also doesn't know what it is. Pretty? Yes ;expensive? No
