I recently purchased a new GX-56KG from eBay and noticed that the watch never wake up from "power saving" sleep mode during the whole day, even when the watch is sitting next to a window, next to another tough solar G Shock that wakes up every morning. I have to wake it up by tilting the watch or press a button.
So I performed a solar panel test (SLR) by pressing 3 buttons (Adjust+Light+Search) under strong light, and the "8888" digits showed up right away. That means to me that the watch fails to detect light and therefore not able to "wake up" from a power saving sleep mode. My other solar G Shock G-5500 passes the SLR test (i.e. "8888" digits only showed up when I blocked the light).
My questions are:
The seller from eBay does not offer any warranty, but I know the watch is not fake.
Thanks a lot for helping!

My questions are:
- If this watch is not able to detect light, is it charging the battery at all? The power level has been in "M" since I got it.
- If a tough solar watch is unable to charge a battery, can I replace the rechargeable battery with a regular (non-rechargeable) battery?
