I have a Movado watch that I received as a gift 20 years ago. The bezel has a polished finished but it has some scratches on it, so I took it in to a jeweller to see if they could polish out the scratches and make it look like new again. A few weeks later, they returned the watch without any work done, saying that their service center cannot polish the watch because the bezel is plated.

Has anyone else experienced this with a Movado watch? I just assumed that underneath the polished steel was more steel, so that there would be no problem with polishing out scratches, and it would seem odd if a watch had a steel case plated with more steel. Or could it be that the metal underneath the plating isn't capable of the same polished finish?

Most likely plated. So dont bother polishing. Just enjoy the vintage vibe.

here’s a his and hers. Fresh from service (sans polish)
