Thinking of buying some watch hands from the OUMASHI store via AliExpress. Any of you recommend the quality of the products from this store? Thanks.
You sir are a scholar and a gent! Thanks so much for the link and the pics. They show me that the planned project may be a success if all goes to plan. Thanks! I did an online search for local sandblasters and the 1st name listed was a good friend of mine who owns a monument company. Called him up and we had it done within 30 seconds. It does require some steel wool to smooth out the finish. Using the steel wool also transformed the color from sand [right after blasting] to the silvery tone you see in the pics.
Thanks again. Look forward to see your build when completed. The handset came from Namoki:

Watch Hands: SKX Skeleton Finish | namokiMODS
Trick or treat! These SKX Skeleton hands have the shape of the much-loved original SKX hands, but we took the guts out and hollowed it out, applying a thick layer of lume on the edges of the hands. Spooky! Comes in a set of hours, minutes and second hands. Hands Measurement (in mm):H/M/S...www.namokimods.com
BTW, found these pics during a search.

Happy to help. You sir are a scholar and a gent! Thanks so much for the link and the pics. They show me that the planned project may be a success if all goes to plan.
I have bought the skeleton hands and the ones with black surround.
Your refinishing of the case is a great match to the bracelet and the dial and hands are a winner. The lume show is stellar too, great watch! How much rodico did you use cleaning the case post blasting!! I've blasted motorcycle parts in the past myself and have always found that thoroughly cleaning all traces of blast media was a challenge.
Ps here is the lightweight "tirtle" at the present early stages. First pic is SD1970 Willard for reference weight.

Should be about 34% lighter than my steel dive stainless turtle.
you bought a titanium case? a heimdallr willare case? where did you find the bracelet? i have a heimdallr willard ti case but not the bracelet and can't find a seller...You sir are a scholar and a gent! Damrod, here is the linkyou bought a titanium case? a heimdallr willare case? where did you find the bracelet? i have a heimdallr willard ti case but not the bracelet and can't find a seller...
btw i had some issue with it, can't use nh35/36...but with a nh38 i could build the mod and..close the back case
like you i had a sd1970 before..nice but heavy
Dust can be such a pain the ar*e! I finally got some rodico and it's a life saver. I now shine a real powerful torch on the dial and view it at a shallow angle and it shows any particles I've missed. Saves unbuttoning it again.Happy to help.
I bought the previously sandblasted case from Namoki. But the bracelet I sandblasted, with the help from my friend. Once the blasting was done we hit it with an air gun to remove any media and then I made sure to rinse it thoroughly. Then I used 0000 steel wool over the entire bracelet to make sure all surfaces were addressed. Then another full rinse, and it was done. I've never used Rodico before, although probably a good idea to get some. Many of my builds take up to 4 times once complete to finally make sure ALL dust particles are removed.
Now you have me thinking of a Ti build.

thanksDamrod, here is the link
I'm sure they will sell you the bracelet if you contact them?
That's concerning regarding not being able to fit the nh35/6!
Can you elaborate on the issue? From what you say it sounds like there's simply not enough deck height to close the case back? How bad are we talking here? Could the case back nearly be closed?
Actually I just checked and calibre corner lists both the 38 @and 36 as same height @5.32mm??
Did you use dial dots when installing the nh36 by any chance.
I'm determined to make this work with the 36 aaargh lol.
Damrod thanks for the pics, it's a nice mod! Looks fantastic on the green nato, very Vietnam era military feel about it.thanks
honnestly maybe it's my fault but my first try was with the sd1970 block (mvt/dial) and i couldnt close the back..not even screw it...
with a nh35 so no disc date...it's ok
i have a smaller willard case 42mm in steel it's ok...maybe it's the case back
i will post pic of my mod
I like the Dremel trick to decrease dial size. 👍🏼Damrod thanks for the pics, it's a nice mod! Looks fantastic on the green nato, very Vietnam era military feel about it.
I think I might be able to shed some light on the issue. Seel dives use a 29mm dial, or at least the Sd1972 King turtle does and its my belief the same is true for Sd1970 based on your findings.
On the ti turtle the part of case which receives the dial is a tight 28.5mm on a good day. (I had no battery in my verniers)
I turned down a sacrificial dial to 28.5 and it still didn't fit until I realised our friends were sloppy with gluing the chapter ring. You can see where I scraped it away with tweezers before blowing it out. There was another spot where it had splooged out and hardened also.
From looking at your pics do I see a slight gap between the dial and chapter ring? If so check for traces of glue preventing full touch down as this case is very tight for the dial and any glue fouls it.
BTW there was a piece of swarf from the crown hole too I removed. Needless to say I will clean this a whole lot before casing a movement.
The good news Damrod is your nh35 and 36 will go in but only with a 28.5mm dial so get shopping

I’ve got a 29mm on the way, if it ever shows up? I was pondering how to get it to 28.5. I’m 110% going try it. Thanksthinking about your dremel trick..
i have a namoki 62mas case..can't put every dial in it.
chinese dial so maybe 29mm and not 28.5...
i put one in it but some can't fit👍
in fact even the orange dial was difficult to put in the steel case ..and its blue and silver brothers have the same issue....
That doesn't look half bad to be honest!
yes, dial for skeleton watch...but with the same look ?That doesn't look half bad to be honest!
Is there such a thing as translucent dials, to make it look more like a Seiko Time Sonar?

Not really identical but along similar linesThat doesn't look half bad to be honest!
