Singapore-based microbrand Reverie has one simple goal: to produce beautiful watches for everyday wear. Like other independent brands, their offerings are a true labor of love. Unlike other brands, however, Reverie founder Samuel Tay makes it a point to get to know his customers personally. The result of this hands-on approach to both watch design and small business? A series of limited-edition timepieces with ornate guilloché dials.

While Tay's company was born out of that humble vision in 2014, their execution is anything but, with an elegant product lineup that utilizes classic design, mechanical movements and always a guilloché dial. The brand's Reverie Diver merges the company's fine dial work with tool watch capabilities, resulting in a stylish, yet functional diver.

Global Brand, Local Approach
Founded within an already competitive field of Singapore microbrands, Reverie didn't take long to adopt a global commerce approach. Now, most of its buyers are US-based collectors. But even as the brand continues to grow in popularity, they still limit production to about 500 watches per year. The reason being, it's important to Reverie to give their buyers a sense of exclusivity, while allowing them to closely manage operations - and allowing Tay to interact directly with customers. (In fact, this sort of personal touch is a major reason many prefer to buy from microbrands in the first place.)

The Reverie Diver

An elegant and well-proportioned piece that still offers tool-watch functionality, the Reverie Diver provides serious value for dive watch enthusiasts, with an RRP of $490 USD. (As an added bonus, Watchuseek readers can now get 15% off by entering promo code WUS15 at checkout.)

The diver itself features a 40mm 316L stainless steel case with a screw-down crown that provides water resistance of up to 20ATM (or 200 meters). The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal comes with AR-coating to minimize glare as well.

Underneath is a premium Japanese automatic movement: the Miyota 9039, with 42 hours power reserve, hacking seconds function and high frequency of 28,800 per hour for a smooth seconds hand. With a slimmer hand stack height than earlier Miyota 9000 series movements, the result is a seamless and slim dive watch.

Sized at 43mm lug-to-lug, with a sub-12mm thickness and a 20mm lug width, the Reverie Diver wears comfortably, and is thin enough to slide under your cuff for daily wear. The watch also comes with an adjustable tapered bracelet that can easily swap out for the included tapered rubber strap without requiring the use of a tool.

As with all Reverie watches, the guilloché dial adds some extra design flair to the brand's diver, and it's now available in your choice of 4 colors: navy, warm grey, olive green, or burgundy. Customers can also choose between 2 bezel options, a traditional dive bezel (useful to time up to 60 mins) or a 12-hour bezel (useful to time another timezone). Meanwhile, two types of Super-LumiNova aid visibility in the dark: BGW9 on the hands and C3 for the hour markers and bezel marker.

Plus, as an added design touch, a Japanese "Seigaiha" (meaning "blue sea and waves") pattern is engraved on the rotor, as a tribute to both the Miyota 9039 movement's origins and the dive watch theme.

Like all of the microbrand's watches, once the Reverie Diver sells out, this watch will not be reproduced. So don't miss out: visit Reverie's site to order yours today! And don't forget to use promo code WUS15 to get 15% off your order.
