PVD/IP Coating Wearing Off After One Day!!!

I'm pretty bummed out. My girlfriend got me PVD/IP coated Hammerhead (FEM7D001B) for my birthday. She knew I wanted it and surprised me with it the day of my birthday. It took me several days before I was able to get the watchband adjusted and I was excited to finally wear it this morning for the first time ever.

After a single day at work, I notice that the PVD/IP coating is wearing away on the watchband already! Just from the band coming in contact with my desk as I type! My job involves me sitting in front of a computer 95% of the time. My desk is some kind of faux wood. As far as I'm concerned, this should NOT be happening.

Has anyone else had this experience with these PVD/IP Orient watches? Is it just a shoddy coating process or am I experiencing an isolated incident? I really love the look of the watch, but if this is occurring with all the watches, I may have to return it for another style. I am just shocked that the coating has worn off after a single wear.

You say a single wear, but how 'hard' has is been worn? Slide the wrist roughly on the table top? Does it impact with the desk/keyboard when you sit down to type? Desk diver marks will happen.

I would say that this is just the nature of the kind of PVD your watch has - I've got some PVD watches (including an Orient Star) and I've never had this problem, but I attribute that to the fact that I'm crazy careful with the damn things, the ones with the PVD bracelets doubly so - the clasp has never touched a desk/table surface = no scratches or marks. It's such a hassle to be conscious of it at all times that I often forgo wearing it, especially if I'm not wearing a long sleeved shirt.

These are just desk diver marks IMO, made worse because there's now a coating that's to be scratched off first - but then again, having never scratched mine, what do I know?

I wore the watch only once, and it did indeed come in contact with my desk surface. However, I wasn't banging the watch around and I think that its a bit ridiculous if a PVD coated watch cannot come in contact with the wooden surface of a desk without scratching. After all, PVD coatings are designed to be tough and scratch resistant. Also, none of my stainless steel watch bands show marks like this at all... so it seems that the PVD coating is more of a liability than an asset on Orient watches.

I have a friend with a black PVD Nixon watch that has been bashed to hell and even the Nixon doesn't show wear like mine.

I think you should wear the watch on strap, personally I wouldn't exchange a watch just because of the bracelet if the watch runs fine.
