I wish to get a Debaufre Ocean 1 watch in gold and black tone for my father on his birthday so he may wear that instead of his rolex when he goes to a dangerous part of town.

However, I am concerned about the quality of the gold plating as it so happens that almost all I've heard about most of the sub $500 watches is that it tends to wear off very fast. My search about gold plating on watches hit a dead end with some discussions about triple wrapped gold plating being better but nothing elightening so far WRT to determining the quality of the plating etc.

I wonder if some of you might be able to tell what kind of plating is used for the gold colored two tone watches from Debaufre and if they can last. There is nothing more nightmarish than a gold watch with half the plating faded away. Any help is much appreciated.

You might keep in mind, a TT Debaufre may look similar to a Rolex and a person with bad intentions may not notice the difference at first glance. ;-)
