Question in Comfort of Oris Rubber Straps

My Aquis has the most comfortable bracelet of any watch I've ever owned (many are 3x the price). I'm considering buying the rubber strap as well, but given the proprietary lugs and $350 price tag, I'm a little hesitant.

I've never owned a watch with rubber staps so I don't have any experience in this area. Can any of you comment as to the overall comfort of the Oris rubber strap vs other rubber straps or even the Oris bracelet?

Thanks in advance!

The rubber strap is very, very comfortable. I will say it's the best rubber strap I have ever worn, more comfortable than the rubber strap on my Sinn UX.

I have to agree. The Oris rubber strap is excellent. The strap is extremely comfortable. Great for the summer as it can be adjusted on the fly. Definitely worth the money. I've seen some great deals on the bay for under $300 dollars. Go for it.

Like them so much, have two now, Tungsten and DLC, bracelet and rubber.

If I had to choose one, the bracelet wins, but there is an adjustable buckle on the rubber. It has a spring-loaded squeeze lock and slides in notches, very clever and handy if things need loosening. Be sure to get this buckle if you buy the rubber.

In this photo, it is set on the tightest setting. By squeezing the button, it unlocks and slides to loosen and it can be loosened while secured on ones wrist.

I've just recently purchased the Aquis rubber strap so I'd just chime in and say that the quality of the strap and the clasp is superb.

However!! Whether if it's suitable for you is another matter totally.

I have a puny wrist at 6.25" and find that the Aquis rubber strap isn't really for me after all. The long part of the strap, the one with the pin holes, is just too long for my tiny wrist. The result is that it overlaps under the other piece of rubber strap (the one with the sliding sledge mechanism), making one side of the watch looking oddly bulky.

On top of the aesthetic imbalancing, it also felt quite uncomfortable because the overlapping part goes all the way back up to the lug on the other side of the watch case. In short, that long piece of strap basically wraps all the way around my entire wrist.

I have to say, the concept behind the construction of this rubber strap system is simply ingenious. It is basically the Oris answer to Rolex's Glidelock clasp design. However if you have a sub 7" wrist, you'll really need to think hard about it. Not that it definitely won't fit you properly, but there's always that possibility.

And if you still want it, mine is up for sale now. Just give me a PM and we'll see how it can be worked out.

PM sent.

I keep thinking about selling my Aquis because of the limited strap options. But I find it's crazy comfortable and I always end up wearing it. It's even more comfortable than my Omega AT and Speedy Pro, which are much more expensive and "nicer".

I'd take a huge beating selling it used, so now I'm looking at custom strap options instead.

If I end up with the rubber strap. I'll probably start looking for some custom leather straps too.

The problem with OEM Oris straps/bracelets is that they can be almost 50% of the cost of the watch.

Available strap for the Aquis are limited to be sure. For me, the OEM rubber strap and titanium bracelet cover everything I need but that's me. If you want to change things up a bit I would contact Aaron at Combat Straps. A fellow Oris owner, Deegan42, had this strap made for his Aquis and it prompted me to order one from Aaron for one of my other watches. It is simply a beautiful strap:

I was in the same boat as you Sao. I've contemplated selling my Aquis couple of times because of my OCD with certain things but this damn Aquis always seem to have a grip over me. Under certain lighting condition it just sparkles and reminds me of the reason I got it in the first place. The latest experiment with it was the rubber strap, but I'm now 100% sure I'm happy with it on the bracelet. This Aquis is here to stay until I can no longer lift my arm to look at it...

I'm thinking of buying a aquis, bit find it hard to chose what I should go for! But I'm mostly a bracelet guy so will probably end up with that!

I'm not even going to try to come up with a clever or funny phrase. I've owned/sold a few Aquis' watches and I find them to be of outstanding quality, regardless of price. However; when you do consider their prices, they are probably the "best bang for your buck" Swiss watch made today. I love mine.

I have an Oris Maldives that came on the titanium bracelet. Great looking and great fit.

I always thought the rubber looked great on the Maldives so I called my buddy Rob at Topper (Forum Sponsor) and ordered up an Oris Rubber on titanium clasp. In a matter of three days the Oris arrived at home. It Fits even better than the titanium bracelet if that's possible.
The rubber is Omega pricey but fits/looks better than anything on the market today.

I just received an OEM rubber strap from Toppers for my 40mm Aquis. It's very well made and nicely machined. Toppers was great to deal with too.

I had a couple of comments on the strap and the changing process. Firstly, it this was my first time to change my Aquis Strap after almost 2 years of ownership. It's harder than it would seem since there's two screwed ends. You really need a tool to hold the watch head (which I have).

Secondly, and more importantly, the strap for the 40mm Aquis doesn't have the adjustable/extendable clasp. I was disappointed in this ... just as I was disappointed to learn that the 40mm bracelet also doesn't have the adjustable clasp (both have the micro-adjustment holes though).

Here's a picture of said strap for internet posterity. I think it's well made and comfortable otherwise.

Well, knock me down with a feather! I was labouring under the impression that all the Aquis models came fitted with the rather superb sliding sledge clasp. Thanks for setting me straight.

I'm thinking of buying a aquis too , but I'm very concerned about the bracelet . I like it very much but is too heavy.......The watch with the bracelet weighs 207 gr. A friend of mine who have the same watch and have 16.5cm wrist (like me) removing some links make the watch weighs 190 gr which make the watch too heave for daily use.....
My Tissot Luxury automatic weighs 140 gr......

The 40mm doest have the extension clasp. The clasp is smaller and to me a more comfortable clasp.

The main drawback for someone with tree trunk wrists is at the last pin hole of the rubber the clasp is not centered and annoyed me.

The 43mm has the extension clasp but the clasp is a huge piece of hardware at least double the size og the 40mm clasp. I found it too big for me.

The rubber on the 43mm is trunk friendly though.
