Lesson #1
If you are posting a "fake vs real" watch on a forum, 99% chance it is Franken at best, crappy fake more often.

Lesson #2
You really counting on photos to determine if real? Super fakes are out there and unless you are a watchmaker with experience with the brand, you aren't going to catch it, even in person. Not so much with vintage but the vast range or previous models and configurations, you are not going to get more than 80% confidence level unless you stumble across a WIS who spends every waking moment researching the brand.

Lesson #3
Always buy the seller.

Lesson #4
If you don't take it to a watchmaker, and not the freaking mall kiosk, I suspect you either know it is fake or you are a cheapskate.

What’s the issue here? Why are people having such a negative reaction? Is there some reason we can’t play “real or fake” here? It’s a very popular pastime on NAWCC forums in regard to pocket watches and early wrist watches. Am I missing something?

personally I think many of these real-or-fake threads are from noob flippers, looking to the community to vet their pre- (and sometimes post-) purchase. they don't know enough to tell fake from real but know enough that they think they can buy low, sell high and make a profit and to avoid a loss they want people here to authenticate possible buys for them. hells bells I wouldn't be surprised if some of these real-or-fake watches (the real ones (hopefully)) show up here for sale once the flipper meets the requirements.

Good point seabee. In this instance I already had this intransit, liked the look and movement etc.. It was great to get input and learn things I did not know. it also pointed me in new directions like why would I want to add a Nato strap etc...And that 2267 is a model of Omega watch etc...In terms of flipping, you should speak to my wife (she wants me to only add a watch if I get rid of one) I only seem capable of buying and rarely sell !!!

Interesting. That makes sense for sure.

Merry Christmas or the holiday of your choice,

...and yet you did. in the meat space it's a difference of opinion and sometimes grown ups act like...well, grownups and not everyone will be warm and fuzzy. it really is not bullying, it's simply one person hearing something that upsets/triggers them

I am a bully eh. Why don't you read my response to the OP's question in this thread and ask yourself why I responded differently in this post? Hint, it has to do with how the OP projected themselves with their queries —so, give me a break when it comes to who is the actual bully.
Yes, you’re a bully. You’re constantly attacking people for posting stuff you don’t like. Here’s another option: just ignore stuff.

This.

Or just put him on ignore as I did long ago. The OP's post was perfectly within bounds and there was no reason to get crappy about it.

Having said that, I like the vintage Omega even if it is Franken.
