Hi All,

I have recently purchased three Gevril Tribeca chronographs from the Gevril Group (Bossi Holding Inc.).
I found out about this new-old-stock (NOS) re-issue from their official Instagram account: @gevrilofficial.

The initial conversations went okay, where Morris Mohadeb had provided accurate descriptions of the watches that I wanted to buy.
Morris even told me about the dent at the black bezel (~10 o'clock area), and I appreciate that he offered a $200 discount for that timepiece ($3999/pc).

However, what he did not mention was the fact that this very piece DOES NOT have a matching caseback.
Of the three timepieces, the last one has a front dial showing 246/500, but also a 019/500 caseback [see attached pictures below].

Notwithstanding, I then contacted Morris and wanted to know if there has been an honest mistake.
This is what Morris said in response:

"The one with the dent might have a different cover, and we sure don't have extra covers here, (the correct number is on the front).
Remember that these pieces have been laying in a vault for years and we didn't sell them for a while."

A sincere question here; would you have sucked it up and just accept it for what it is, or would you have it returned to Gevril?
If not, what is the fair value for such a "Frankenstein" watch that you are willing to pay to own/wear?

Appreciate any constructive criticisms and feedback.

UPDATE: 27th July 2018
So I sent an email to Morris/Gevril telling him my intention to have the franken watch returned, and he responded with the following counter-offer and contradicting response. If you recall from my previous text, Morris claimed that they no longer have a matching caseback for my piece. Now he suddenly retracts his previous claim and say that they have the matching caseback, but insinuated that I buy two more watches (that I do not personally like) from them. Below is a screenshot of the email from Morris.

Many other options out there -- Steinhart, if you want mechanical; and Gigandet ( my own preference) if quartz is acceptable to you.
Why put up with this franken bs from what sounds like a d-bag seller? :-s

I think a lot of members reading this thread will remember an expensive mistake they made in their collecting history, and commiserate. But this one? If you are being offered any way out of this deal I would bail immediately and get your money back and chalk it up to experience. If there is a commercial upside to this deal I am missing, and you feel you will profit, I'll eat my words...but it doesn't look like a good transaction for the buyer from here. Best of luck to you.

And no, I would definitely not accept a non-matching part on a NOS watch!

Members here often have difficulty separating reality from illusion. Some have suggested just on (their) principle that you return all watches and learn from your "mistake" forgetting the fact that you obviously did some research, and you thought that this was a good purchase, where others look at the deal with the usual snobbish disdain, and dislike/dismiss the fact that YOU bought these on your own, and simply because of their dislike and disdain, suggest you try to get ALL your money back--that's the illusory world some of the folks here live in. You bought three watches, and one of them has a problem--the best I can see is that you have grounds to return that one, but based on what, exactly, could you expect to be able to return the other two, which apparently look and run fine? Some may think your money was better spent elsewhere, forgetting that, in fact, the decision to purchase three watches was solely your decision, and you have come here after the fact. Get your money back on the one with the mismatched numbers--do whatever you were intending to do with the others.

You said the seller described them as a NOS reissue. That makes me think the watches were assembled from remaining parts some of which were apparently damaged. If the price had one less zero then one watch might be fun to own. But three of them? You should ask for a complete refund.

Agreed. No-one put a gun to the OP's head to purchase them.

I read on the Revolution website who was selling these they they were made out of what parts were left, nothing mentioned mismatched numbers, and the added ceramic bezels to the non steel bezel versions. If you are happy with the 2 keep them, I would return or want a further discount and letter from them noting why the numbers to not match for future resale.
