Hi All,
I have recently purchased three Gevril Tribeca chronographs from the Gevril Group (Bossi Holding Inc.).
I found out about this new-old-stock (NOS) re-issue from their official Instagram account: @gevrilofficial.
The initial conversations went okay, where Morris Mohadeb had provided accurate descriptions of the watches that I wanted to buy.
Morris even told me about the dent at the black bezel (~10 o'clock area), and I appreciate that he offered a $200 discount for that timepiece ($3999/pc).
However, what he did not mention was the fact that this very piece DOES NOT have a matching caseback.
Of the three timepieces, the last one has a front dial showing 246/500, but also a 019/500 caseback [see attached pictures below].
Notwithstanding, I then contacted Morris and wanted to know if there has been an honest mistake.
This is what Morris said in response:
"The one with the dent might have a different cover, and we sure don't have extra covers here, (the correct number is on the front).
Remember that these pieces have been laying in a vault for years and we didn't sell them for a while."
A sincere question here; would you have sucked it up and just accept it for what it is, or would you have it returned to Gevril?
If not, what is the fair value for such a "Frankenstein" watch that you are willing to pay to own/wear?
Appreciate any constructive criticisms and feedback.
UPDATE: 27th July 2018
So I sent an email to Morris/Gevril telling him my intention to have the franken watch returned, and he responded with the following counter-offer and contradicting response. If you recall from my previous text, Morris claimed that they no longer have a matching caseback for my piece. Now he suddenly retracts his previous claim and say that they have the matching caseback, but insinuated that I buy two more watches (that I do not personally like) from them. Below is a screenshot of the email from Morris.
