Please share any experiences with antique watch repair/restore shops in the Southeast USA, in particular with pocket watches from the 1800's.

The Links and Articles subforum has a thread on how to find watchmakers in the US. As to experiences, well, I find talking to the watchmaker directly is the best form of screening.

I have a watch shop in the Atlanta area I use quite often.
Reasonably priced, but not the quickest.

Since I don't have anything of that age in my collection, can't speak to their work on something antique.
But they'll let you know if not something they can handle (they passed on vintage Timex autos & tuning fork movements for example).
