Hi fellow WuS members;

I am considering purchasing this Universal Geneve Uni-Compax chronograph. Unfortunately (but that is factored in the price), the dial is in very bad condition. I am considering having the dial refinished.

Which place would you recommend in the US for a chronograph redial? How much do you think it would cost?

Thanks in advance for your tips. As usual, much appreciated.

Re: Recommendations for Dial Refinishing for Chronographs

A Swiss watch, I wouldn't recommend anyone in the states. Check out some English or European dial houses.
The only one I can think of now, is this

Watch Dial Restoration from C&F Dial Restoration

There is a good one in Israel also, but can't find the link to it.

With some hunting you should be able to pick up one on the bay - i have looked at getting a dial re done and the cost is not over the top quotes ranged from between $us 150 - 300 it all depends on the complications etc
They wont however commit to ANYTHING. There is always lots of ifs & buts from the Dial makers no matter how much information you give them on the Dial, they wont commit to having your dials pattern until they have it, and them they wont commit to a price, until they have seen the bare metal etc,.....check out you-tube its a fantastic process - pure artisan, the good dial makers are worth the wait, cheers.

Please do not destroy that dial, it's amazing! It looks good, it looks authentic, it looks like the watch was never re-dialed.

You will spend money, you will get white clean dial that will look like unmistakable redial and the value of your watch will go down. Why destroy history to reduce the value of your watch?
