I finally have all my parts from around the globe to replace the crystal, gaskets, and bezel insert on my Seiko 6309.

I was about to get started when I noticed the pip in the new insert is clearly smaller than the original.

Is this typical with replacement inserts or do I have the wrong one?

It seems that your insert is like the one listed at New Black Bezel Insert for Diver's Watch 7002 6309 7S26 Etc | eBay. This is an aftermarket one. Among the many aftermarket ones that try to mimic original Seiko inserts, that is a good one.

It will be very hard (most likely impossible) to get an original 6309 insert. If you want an original Seiko part, the best you can do is to get an SKX007 insert. They are often available from Dagaz Watch and Yobokies.

Thanks, I didn't realize Yobokies was by a person named Harold. Thanks for the links.

Yep - Yobokies is the way to go, Harold does make the most accurate replacements.
