I was wondering if anyone has experience with the company Resco based out of Coronado, USA? I really like the idea of an active duty SEAL making watches that have been tested in the line of duty and are being worn by many American heroes as we speak. Are they really worth between a grand and some change and 2800 though?

I don't have a RESCO watch, but I have purchased a watch directly from the owner/operator Rob Smith out of his personal collection. He was great to interact with and very down to earth.

I find them very intriguing, but I think the jury may still be out on Vananvron movements (although in all fairness, I've only done a cursory search of Val-Swiss in the past).

I like the designs, the overall look and the premise....but I always hesitate when it comes to watches that are closely tied-in to the military. I do like that Resco doesn't brand their watches with the SEAL insignia (although the Trident second hand may be a nod in that direction). I think it's a personal thing, as I occasionally wonder if it's not just a bit insulting when guys (who clearly never served) are wearing those "Spec-Ops" branded "tactical" watches. I mean, are they wearing them as a tribute or are they simply poser-wannabees that think they're tough?

On a side note, I really like the Kobold SEAL watch and the fact that you have to prove you passed BUDS to purchase one. I have a lot of respect for how they're "protecting" the integrity of the SEAL name.

Sorry, I kinda ran off on a tangent there. Again, I like them, have considered the Patriot myself....but unfortunately can't speak to their quality. Following is an older thread that you may find interesting, and if you haven't already done so, you may want to have a look at Kobold Watches (I kinda dig them too)...

I had a mild interest for the Hooper because I love Jaws, but that's about it.

I love the way they look. Although I have absolutely no use for a diver watch, I recently considered a Patriot and a Doxa Searambler. Ruminating on the pros and cons of each, I chose the Doxa. I still love the way the Patriot looks. heb

2012? Had to dig deep for that one eh bud?

I've had two Patriots, both purchased here. My current one runs the Val movement. Both have been great for me. If I get more it will likely be on the used market as I agree with some others that the prices are starting to run high.

I'm not really sure how to take that. I was interested, did a quick search, found the thread at the top of "Google" and thought it had some pertinent information.

Edit: I know the thread title suggests they have problems, but I posted the link because there seems to be as many positive remarks and it speaks to the move to the newer movements. Again, it seemed interesting and relevant and was not intended to be dissuasive. Like I said, I like the watches and have considered the Patriot myself.

Me personally...i thought it to be tacky using the old Russian movement(Slava S-2427) and charging $1500 for the Resco Patriot Gen 1. Which by the way turned out to be a very costly mistake on Resco's part.

I love they way they look as well but so far, I've held off on purchasing one because at the price point, there are too many others that capture my attention first.

Whatever the market will bear price wise, I guess. More power to them.

The Patriot is featured in the TV show Person Of Interest, worn by main character, John Reese, (Jim Caviezel).
