Okay, another silly poll. These are watches that I am targeting as a stretch goal (i.e., need to sell off a good chunk of my collection in order to get there). So this is pretty close to a one and done watch (will be tapped out for a long time to come after this one).

So it has to be special, but also versatile. It doesn't have to be a "sports" model though, although the Rolex is obviously there.

These models are all pretty close in price on the secondary market (within a few thousand dollars). All are in the high $30k to low $40k. I chose models based on secondary market prices to avoid sourcing issues at retail, so any markups are a part of the price considerations. However, these models are generally selling at, or below, their retail prices.

What would you choose?

Here are some pics for those not familiar with these models.

It's so interesting that on the secondary market, the white gold Submariner with a date complication is in the same price range as a Moser tourbillon. Obviously, the amount of precious metal has to be taken into account. I can't price anything without a bracelet or add a bracelet where there is none, so it is what it is.

But it makes the decision so much harder. The Rolex is an awesome watch, but as awesome as an ALS or Patek with a timezone complication? Or a Moser with a bloody tourbillon?

And again, if I pull the trigger on one, that's it boys. Unless, I guess, I sell the one I buy to switch over to another (but let's not include that possibility for argument sakes).

Depends on what other watch/watches you have to go along with it. If you only have dress or GADA style then I would go with the Rollie. If you already have a high end sports watch, then Moser.

I have a good mix of dress and sports, but this one would be the first watch on a different level, thus the dilemma. It's not really to fill in a missing component in the collection. It's driven by pure idiocy and lack of financial prudence.

If that’s the case, nothing beats a Tourbillon. I respect ALS and Patek, but those particular models do nothing for me really. That Moser gets me excited. I have toyed with the idea of selling a watch or two and buying the non-tourbillon version of that same watch. Just a peach.

I voted Lange, because I love ALS.

I like Moser, but tourbillons aren‘t my thing, although I‘ve never seen one in the metal so they might be pretty cool to have. I do appreciated the horology behind the complication. That would be my second choice.

All Subs are meh, but then again I‘m not a Rolex fanboy, though I do have a new Air-King. But if forced into these four, it would be choice #3.

The Patek looks like an Oris. Although I like Oris, $30k/$40k for a fancy Oris lookalike doesn‘t grab me, so it‘s a very distant #4.

Interesting thing thus far is that the people posting are apparently not the people voting. The Patek and Rolex are neck and neck, tied for 1st in terms of votes (8 each as of the time of this post). The ALS is second, and the Moser has no votes.

So those who pick Moser are not putting their opinions in the poll.
