James Bond and Rolex
I'm not sure whether Ian Fleming specified 007's watch as a Rolex in the James Bond Novels. When the films were produced, Sean Connery was first to introduce the Rolex Submariner to the big screen in Dr No. Roger Moore carried the mantle in to the mid-70's but allegiances and product placement pressures forced a change of allegiance to Omega when Pierce Brosnan took on the role in the 90's. In Dr. No, Sean Connery is seen wearing a Rolex Submariner, Rolex Reference No. 6538 or 5508 which is now known amongst collectors as the James Bond Submariner.

Listed below are the Rolex watches seen in the James Bond films.

Dr. No (1962) - A Rolex Submariner

From Russia With Love (1963) - A Rolex Submariner.

Goldfinger (1964) - Rolex Submariner Model ref. 5508 (note the lack of crown guards compared to today's watch) seen right complete with a rather ill fitting two tone NATO strap. Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) wears a Rolex GMT when piloting Goldfinger's jet.

Thunderball (1965) - Rolex Submariner.

O.H.M.S.S. (1969) - Rolex Submariner with steel bracelet. George Lazenby takes off his Submariner, places it on top of a photo-copier and then peruses a Playboy magazine. A Rolex chronograph with a silvered dial and a stainless steel Oyster bracelet is also worn by Lazenby in the film.

Live And Let Die (1973) - Roger Moore's Rolex Submariner Model 5513, takes a starring role in the film when the serrated bezel turns into a fast spinning buzz saw and a built in super magnet provides a useful tool for unfastening the zip on Jane Seymour's dress.

The Man With The Golden Gun (1974) - Rolex Submariner seen very clearly when Roger Moore smokes his cigar. A Rolex Cellini King Midas also features.

great List Gfinn. Since Becoming A 'watch Freak' I Can't Help But Notice Watches Being Worn In Movies Rather Than Actually Following The Film!! I Need To Get Out A Bit More Perhaps!
Lol :-!
I thought this was suppose to be a short list? :-s :-d:-d

I thought this was suppose to be a short list? :-s :-d:-d

Ha! It was, when the list started in early 2006. Turns out the Rolexes are everywhere...
National Treasure II / Nick cage wears a Su Date

Oceans Thirteen / Brad Pitt wears a what looked like a TT Daytona, but I am not quite sure, will have to watch the movie again.

Oceans Thirteen / Don't know the actors name, Englishman who played Grecko Montgomery wears a SS Explorer II
Hello pureslab, I knew Zevon had a lot of class.... owoooooo werewolves of London!
regards, Dr. Robert
Hello Gfinn, didn't Steve Mcqueen wear a GMT or Explorer II in a film or two? I have 2 Rolex Explorer II's-1973&1974 and they're known as the Steve McQueen model Orange 24hr. hand. And not to deviate from the brand but lately Panerai's are in films!
I liked your list!
regards, Dr. Robert
hello dasser. you dog, you have a TH Monaco! I'm saving up for one. I'm a big Steve McQueen fan (I'm old!) He wore a blue one in Le Mans. I have 2 Explorer II's w/ the orange 24 hr. hand, it's referred to as the "Steve Mcqueen" model, but I'm not sure which film, he also wore a Sub.
regards, Dr. Robert
The Film "Pretty Woman" Richard Gere sports a DATEJUST.:-!
Bumping this antique thread... I was watching a few zombie movies for old times sake, just noticed on Return of the Living Dead 3 a Military Scientist is wearing a Daytona:

It's my first post here and I am interested after reading this thread. In "The Da Vinci Code" (2006), Jurgen Prochnow's character (Andre Vernet) the manager of Swiss Bank-Paris who is helping Tom Hanks' character (Robert Langdon) escape from the authorities by disguising himself as a container-truck driver wears a Steel-Gold Rolex Daytona (116523) with black dial.

Here's the dialogue when he was intercepted outside the building and asked to open the container where Langdon was hiding inside by Lt Collet (police head unit) :

Vernet : You mind? I'm on a schedule here (pats on his wrist).
Collet : (looks at Vernet's wrist and the camera gives us a clear view of that 116523 on Vernet's wrist) And do all the drivers wear a Rolex?
Vernet : What? This piece of ****? 40 Euros in Barbes. Yours for 35.
Collet : No, no, no, no.
Vernet : Thirty!
Collet : No, it's okay. It's okay.
Vernet : Come on, 30, eh?
Collet : I said no! Move along!

Tom Hanks wears a Mickey Mouse watch in this movie, I have the faintest idea about the brand. Maybe a Tissot?

P.S. I really like and always remember that scene above because I used to have exactly the same 116523 like in this movie but I sold it after getting hold off a 116520.

I think Brad Pitt was either rocking the SS Sub date or ND in Oceans' 13. Theres a good glimpse of it when he laid down the money on that slot machine.
Tom Selleck wears the GMT in several episodes but does wear his Sub 1680 most of the time.
I don't think Magnum wore a 1680. For the first few seasons at least, he wore a Chronosport SeaQaurtz 30.

It was an 18K GMT IIc in Ocean's 13.
The Baddie in Angels And Demons is waering I think a Datejust....
Better late than never; Clive Owen starred in a great British mini-series called "Second Sight" about a hot-shot police detective inspector who starts to lose his sight and tries to hide it. He first realizes it when waking up one morning, picking his SS Date Sub up off the carpet next to the bed, and trying to focus on it to tell the time. Funny thing is, the crown is completely unscrewed. He continues to wear it throughout the series. You can catch it on BBC America or probably find it on NetFlix....great series!
Watching it now, looks to be intense. It's a Submariner ("non-date," though that's anachronistic). Can't tell the vintage, looks older than the 1999 production date, but the bezel looks ceramic. Maybe just a beater.
