Hi Joe!

Personally, I would not get either! Like marrick, I dont know much about the Sandoz... I dont like how the strap does not match the case! for the money, I would want a original strap!

As for the seiko '5'... as I have said before, i have found some seiko owners turn their nose's up at the '5' series... Looks like an 80s example and I would guess it has a 7009 auto movement! The strap looks original and will have a simple clasp buckle!

The seiko is all the money and I would not want to spend a penny more...in my opinion....

Now the 6138 and 6139s

and the movement:

and some others....

That is just a few... all the ones above are from the 70s of earlier and have movement number begining with 6XXX... like, 6309, 6619, 6602... etc!

Thare a others that start with 7XXX... and I have plenty of pics of these, but not wanted to totally railroad your thread!! ... but not a fan of the 7009 series movemnt!

Did not see your post about cheap and reliable!

You wont get the 6138 and 6139s for under £50 (and thats if your really lucky)

I would look for Seiko 6119, Seiko 7006, Seiko weekdater, Seiko sea horse, Seiko 6309... Thats if you are looking at seikos :-!

I have bought versions of all of those for under £30! All Autos, All reliable, with day/date!

seikos is sort of what im looking for esp with it been made in japan, sounds daft but i own a british movement and swiss movements so would be nice to have a movement made in japan. And at a great price for some great looking pieces. not bothered about chronograph as i have a great one. I do like the last seiko in your pics and dont think you are railroading my thread more pics the better.

The last one is a 6602... Handwind! Great runner. On my iPod now, so not as easy to post pics... Will add some others tomorrow.

I'm sure you will be able to find a seiko you like for around £30! There are plenty on the bay finishing every day... They used to be all I dealt in!

Here are a few I just found that look good value:

SEIKO AUTOMATIC 17 JEWELS MENS WATCH | eBay UK

Vintage Seiko 21 Jewel Automatic Day/Date Watch S/S WO | eBay UK

Gents Seiko dress watch, day/date automatic, working | eBay UK

More Seikos

Seiko 7019-7110

7009-8611

66-7070

lord-matic 5606-8070

7006

7019-5090

7005

7009-8040

7006-5000

not vintage... but you can get these for around £30 (this sold for £43 and I made good profit on it!) 7s26 movement - very good movement!!

That said, I had to pay extra to get my SKX007J (which has the same movement) which was made in Japan... (the J on the serial number indicates it was made in Japan - a lot of modern Seikos are made out of Japan - the serial numbers will finish with a K or P if made out of Japan!

Not that you are after a watch like this... but its my favourite Seiko
