I somehow managed to snag an allocation of this watch from GS, which arrived yesterday!

I can report that WYSIWYG with the color and texture of the dial. Quite often GS photos and stock images highlight their dials in the perfect lighting and optimal circumstance. I can say this dial pops in virtually all lighting, and it is as blue as you see below. That has advantages and disadvantages. But if anyone is considering this watch, there's nothing incognito about it at all.

I haven't worked through my feelings on the case yet. I generally prefer the geometric and sharper edges of the 44GS case. This case might grow on me -- it does curve to the wrist, doesn't wear flat, and due to the short and curved lugs, the dial wears large for a 39mm (pictured on my 7.3" wrist). Polishing and finish is on point for GS.

Trying to figure out what the perfect strap for this one will be... thoughts?

Although... my wife was keen to point out that it looked like I was wearing a "wall ball" on my wrist, which seemed goofy to her. So I googled it... and sure enough, the real inspiration for the design is revealed. :)

I really like that watch, especially the dial color. I was a click away from buying on the GS Boutique site but did not pull the trigger - just a little too much of a dress watch for my style. But it may end up being a decision I regret.

I would try a light grey suede strap or something else that disappears into the background so the the dial takes all the visual attention.

Glad to see another in the wild! Are you going to swap straps on it?
Probably not, to be honest. I played around with straps and such earlier in my watch journey but I didn't find it super fulfilling. Now I tend to just leave watches on whatever they come with (and bias towards watches that come on bracelets as that is my preference, but this dial was too good to pass up despite the strap).

FWIW you can order the bracelet from SBGK017 for this watch as well (same case, it fits) for $1,200 from the boutique. I think I'll pass; it's not my favorite type of bracelet.

I wanted to dress the watch down a bit -- and as nice as the factory strap is -- it's hard to pull off with a normal t-shirt.

I agree with you on that bracelet. Aside from the $1,200 price point -- -- it's not a design I particularly love. Rolex has spoiled me on tapered and adjustable clasps/bracelets.

My secret is that I really just don't give a @#$^ how fancy or unfancy a given watch is, and wear it with anything. I'm currently wearing this watch on its factory leather strap and a graphic T and it didn't even occur to me that the two were mismatched. I just don't care.
