The 2254.50 and the 2201.50 are both Omega classics. Which one would you rather have/keep between the two, and why?

The 2254.50 is 41mm case diameter x 47mm lug to lug x 12mm thick, water resistant to 300M, and contains the 1120 caliber automatic movement with a 44 hour power reserve.

The 2201.50 is 42mm case diameter x 47.5mm lug to lug x 14mm thick, water resistant to 600M, and contains the 2500D automatic caliber with a 48 hour power reserve.

For me, the 2201.50 has the 2254.50 beat on looks. The 2201.50 has an elegance and refinement to it that the 2254.50 lacks imo. The 2254.50 has more of a quirky charm with the large bezel font. However, the 2254.50 at only 12mm has wearability on its side.

I have both watches and have given some thought to trimming down the number of Omegas I have. Although I've considered selling one of them at various points, I can never bring myself to do it, and don't think I ever will.

If I was forced to choose I would go with the 2201.50 because even after years of ownership I find myself thinking "damn, that is NICE!" when I look down at it, whereas the the 2254.50 is more like your favorite hoodie that you end up reaching for over and over because its so comfortable.

How about you guys? Which one would you rather have/keep between the two, and why?

I used to have the PO 2500D, and till this day I regret letting go the PO. But for me nothing beats the comfort and looks for 2254 and that is what I have now together with my Bond 2220.80. Inseparable duo for me but I still wish I had kept the PO. My advise is if you can manage it, keep them both and enjoy them. They are destined to be classics if not already.

The 2254 was my first luxury watch. The 2201.50 was my grail watch for 10 years. After owning both, I’d have to say 2254. The proportions, fit, and elegance are near perfect, with a few exceptions. But now after owning the PO 8500 for a few months, that beats both of them 😉

Since you asked, I would keep the PO, I like the numerals at 12 , 9 and 6 and the extra power reserve. But I would try to keep both!

For me, I would keep the 2201.50. As to why? I prefer its modern classic look over that of the 2254.50's fat lume mound indexes.

I just bought my PO and I considered this, the Seamaster and the PO, of course. Went with the PO and no looking back. The applied polished Arabic numerals and the overall shape of the hour/min hands is just perfection on a "tool" diver. It just brings something extra to the dial VS the other 2. My 2 pesos anyway.

I owned both. Kept the 2254 due to slim case whereas the 2201 just wore too thick for me

Very tough call. If I were making the decision, i’d probably go with the 2504.50 just because the PO with 14mm thickness is too thick. Aesthetically, I think I actually like the PO a bit more, and it could also be slightly more versatile than the 300m.

Not even the same watch, to me at least. The SMP is more office, professional. Thinner, cleaner, polished. The PO is more of every thing. Work, play, serious buisness. More robust, more watch. Not even close to me.. PO. But I get SMP.

PO, I have the 2200 and a blue SMP and neither are going anywhere. I always wanted the 2254 as well but of your two the PO wins hands down for me. Just something about the design that none of the follow ups ever matched. They got that one right first time.

This is like asking me to choose between my kids! Wait...I could do that. One of them is a real jackwagon. 🤣

Seriously. I get wanting to trim down the collection. I’m struggling with that myself. In regards to these two: Trim something else. No matter which one you cut loose, this road leads you straight to Regretville. Possibly with a future visit to Rebuyburg.
