If we wish it, maybe it will be so?

I am betting Omega rereleases the Seamaster 300 this year with the Spirate system. This is the quintessential Seamaster, with much better lume than the current offerings, along with their current bracelet that is better than Rolex. This may finally put the Seamaster ahead of the Submariner, especially if they price it around $5k. Oh, and let’s keep it slim, 13 mm or less, 40mm max, no HE valve.

Omega, DM me, I want the first off the assembly line please.

The issue is, if they add more cost, people will buy Rolex. Omega loses value when used, Rolex does not. They have to show a huge value proposition, and this would do it.

I'm not saying Rolex is superior, it is just where the market is right now.

If they get enough converts or first time buyers, it will be a lifetime of gain for Omega as most people just stick with what they know.

IF they get enough converts. Thats a huge gamble. I love Omega but I cant help feel theyre pushing it with their prices as they are at the moment. Tudor are snapping at their heels. If they push much more I dont think I would be prepared to pay those prices.

I love the new bond SMP but theres no way on earth I would pay £7k for it but im sure there are people out there that would. The question is, would losing ME as a customer be a good trade off for someone that WOULD buy one if they were just looking for a GADA watch. The majority of my friends arent into watches. They do own nice watches but theyve owned them for years and have no intention of buying another watch. Im an idiot with buying watches and buy one or 2 every year. Maybe im too cheap to own an Omega nowadays.

Exactly, they can't raise the price, but can offer more value to keep converts coming.

Tudor is right there, and are even messing with METAS. Oris cal 400 is also a great value.

Omega has to show greater value for about the same cost.

And yes, love those brownies!!

Yes, it is. Not to offend as I´m also one of those that jumped off the wagon last year.

With the latest price increase on Longines and its current price range it´ll be taking Omega´s spot, while Omega will keep following Rolex´s pace. They are most likely intending to redirect those potential buyers who won´t be willing to pay Omega´s current and future prices to Longines, or at least a percentage of them, so not all the market share is lost there.

I'd love to see it happen...Omega has to know that this reissue would be a smash hit.
Just because some geeks on a watch forum are drooling over it doesn't guarantee it will be a success. I'm not sure if it would appeal to the average Joe who just walks into the boutique looking for a fancy watch.

Yes please. It will be 7k. Making it 38mm would be an insult. The original size is the way to go, 41mm case and 40mm bezel puts it in the sweet spot. Make it so Omega

The reality distortion field around Omega is getting stronger.

That mid-60s Seamaster design that "everybody" is begging for only got popular among a small group of watch nerds because some microbrand sold some restorations recently. There's already too many versions of the Seamaster diver. There's no market for this.

And even if they did make this, they're sure as hell not going to put Spirate in it and sell it for cheaper than the existing SMP300.

Omega is trying to compete with Rolex. They're not going to be a player in that space by appealing to the mass market with value props. That's what Longines is for.

These companies aren't interested in giving us more for the same amount of money. They come up with new technology so that they can justify charging more. Next gen Seamaster, whatever changes, will be $7500.

Look at seiko, you have to go up to $800 - $1000 just to get a milled clasp.
