Loose skeletal hands, 40mm, less than 48 lug to lug, coin edge bezel, 12mm thick, taper bracelet and smaller clasp, and I’m in at 6k.
As far as being to close to Rolex price, go try to buy a Rolex at retail.
I’ve purchased multiple Rolex in the last two years from an AD that I had no prior history with. Green bezel Sub, James Cameron DSSD, pink dial OP, and another ladies watch for my girlfriend. You may not be able to walk in and get a hot model same day, but if you just ask and have a little patience it is possible to get these watches. I don’t need any watch right this instance, so it doesn’t bother me much, I just tell the AD what I’d like and then if/when I get the text/call I’m pleasantly surprised.

I also don’t think it’s quite the nightmare it was a year or two ago (or even 6 months ago) as the economy has changed a lot, watch prices have come down drastically, so demand has also come down quite a bit. Yes, there are still “wait lists”, but I’m seeing more and more threads of people who just walked into an AD and walked out with a Rolex they wanted. I think I’ll give it a shot next time I’m back at my AD in early March (fingers crossed).

I’ve been waiting for 2 years. Done with it all. Time waits for no one. Omega rocks and they are customer friendly. Rolex is great, I’m okay with my sub and Datejust. Not adding anything from Rolex.
VC is most likely next.

165.024 modern release will most definitely be limited and north of 7.5k for sure. I'm very hopeful considering the anniversary so I've stashed away the funds for it, but I'm doubtful it'll actually happen. Looking forward to Watches and Wonders this year...

When I wear mine I get ZERO looks at my wrist, so it’s hard to imagine that there would be a huge “want” other than “us” watch geeks.
I would imagine price will be inline with the other vintage re-issues from Omega. View attachment 17225405
Well I’d certainly notice, but wouldn’t necessarily mention it, depending on circumstance. So I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself.
How many watch geeks make a market?

I'd be surprised you get no looks while wearing that monster. The image is now burned into my retinas and I'm not mad.

The reality distortion field around Omega is getting stronger.

That mid-60s Seamaster design that "everybody" is begging for only got popular among a small group of watch nerds because some microbrand sold some restorations recently. There's already too many versions of the Seamaster diver. There's no market for this.

And even if they did make this, they're sure as hell not going to put Spirate in it and sell it for cheaper than the existing SMP300.
I don't know what to think. Omega fans have been begging for a modern version of this watch for years. If the design isn't desirable why did they release the 300mc? If the 300mc was a sales flop, why did it get an updated version? I don't understand. I think the 300mc is the closest we've gotten to a modern interpretation of the original.

Personally I don’t see it happening anytime soon. I have the vintage SM300 just back from a service (2nd) in 3 years but I have been thinking if you could add a 2500 caliber and sapphire crystal to give it a modern update (and maybe longer intervals between services). I suspect mine is a WATCHCO which is a modern take anyway and I do not see them having parts forever :)
