Just saw this getting posted about here and thought it may be worth getting it's own thread going.

https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/products/prospex/special/55th-anniversary-limited/

It looks like an LE of 5,500 and a price of 140,000 yen.

Sapphire crystal

200m

Diashield

6R35

40.5mm diameter

47.6mm lug to lug

13.2mm thick

For my part I love the size and the dial, case and hands. No chapter ring.

I have been looking for awhile and I think It is almost my perfect seiko diver dare I say it.

There are also some non limited editions with grey and brown dials.

As said before, I'm perfectly happy with the original bracelet that came with my 143. The only thing I'd change is a clasp without the diver extension. This solution is a lot more economic that buying another aftermarket bracelet. Not to mention the colour of the aftermarket bracelet may not match the diashield coating of the watch head.
Thanks I will maybe look at new clasp thankyou

I read some scary posts on threads about the 6R35. Anyone here want to share their experience? Especially those who have been keeping the watch for more than a year (two even better).

Edit: I just remember my SPB155 has 6R35 and it's just fine. Less than a year old though.

For me (2 months so far), no issue at all. 6R35 runs perfectly.

It’s all just luck of the draw. My SPB143 and SPB243 both run in the +5-10 spd range. My SPB313 runs at +23 spd. The issue with the movements is they aren’t regulated at all, and they vary widely in accuracy.

No problems at all. Bought a 2nd hand 143 last year, made in Dec 2020, and had my local watchmaker do a full service on it for my own piece of mind. Runs great at +5-10spd on wrist. Couldn’t be happier.

Finally got this on wrist. Honestly it's heavier than I expected. Really wish the Uncle Seiko or Strapcode bracelets matched the case finish better because I think they are otherwise much nicer.

A little chunk ain't it 🤣ive found it hard coming from khaki fields. Think might wear on strap most of time.

As far as OCD goes, I think 5-10 spd is fine for a one watch or small collection but if it's in a larger collection or you also have COSC watches, you def notice that you change the time on the Seikos more often than the other stuff.

That being said, if the Seiko is in a larger collection, you might not notice if it's running out of spec if you're correcting the time when you put it on and only wear it a few times a month! lol

Not right or wrong. Just part of the ownership experience. So "perfect" has a lot to do with expectations.

+5-10 spd is fine for the cost of the watch.+23 spd for a thousand dollar watch is unacceptable personally.

I wear mine on the Uncle Seiko Z199 bracelet. Every time I look down I think, "that looks awesome, so much better than the OEM." Never once have i looked at my wrist and thought, "gee, that doesn't match at all." Things that seem to be problems under a loupe or zoomed in pictures are frequently not problems at all to every day people simply enjoying their watch.

About movement, as long as they are within specs I think it's good enough. I mean, Seiko list their specification and if we think that specification is not good enough then just choose other model or brand. "With that price we can/should get bla bla bla"... sure, then buy that other watch. Right?

If we get something worse than what's listed or we get +-spd listed only after we regulate it, then that's a problem. And yes, it happens often with Seiko. Just my 2 cents.

I'm tempted by the Uncle Seiko the colour match isn't really important to me. How does it wear though for you balance wise ? Is the Z199 as balanced as the original or did you not really wear original ? Thanks

The Z199 is lighter and thinner with a small clasp that sits perfectly for me. I've had no issues with the watch moving or not staying in place. It's tough for me to answer regarding the OEM bracelet because the clasp is goofy and was set (when the bracelet was sized) to sit really far off-center on me. I didn't notice until I started wearing the bracelet more regularly and had no incentive to get it fixed because I hated the clasp and wanted to go a different direction with the bracelet.

Great thanks for the feedback :)
Question: what's the perfect spring bar size to use on SPB143? I heard 1.1mm or 1.2mm for tips and 2mm or 2.5mm diameters. Which one?

I had to purchase 1.2 mm tips because the 1.1 mm tips were too loose and rattled around. I don't think that's true for every 143, though.
