My Seiko kinetic seems reluctant to retain its charge - very difficult to get it to hold the "20" level of power reserve - does keep time and functions fine - I do not use an automated winder - so I am getting carpal tunnel from doing the "winding wave". I have had it about 2 years NIB - how long should the capacitor last in one of these < that is about all that could go wrong?

which cap is yours?

i think 5M65 should be good for a while

any other previous cap may need replacement if it doesn't hold charge anymore

I have an auto-relay Kinetic Seiko, 5J22 calibre, bought it in 1999, still very accurate as robust pool-watch now, problem free. Replace the dome crystal as too many scratches last May, and check the cap, just fine.

The newer Kinetics no longer use caps because of this problem. Seiko's fix was to change over to rechargable batteries. :)
