personal experience, definitely not a scientifically valid sample size: I have owned several Citizen and Seiko quartz watches. I have never had a Citizen fail.
Son had a Seiko prospex solar dive watch fail; i think it was his own fault, he never wore the watch and stored it in a drawer, no exposure to light, for a couple of years.
i think you should get the watch you want. Quartz is generally highly reliable.
