Seiko quartz any good?

While looking for a quartz "every day fun" watch (i'm not going to say a beater) i stumbled on Seiko Astron series and totally fell in love with sbxd007 model.
It's fantastic. 39mm, only 12mm thick, titanium case and bracelet with special coating. 200m wr, Solar, GPS for accuracy and time zone setup, tough, looks great. I ordered it already for a very good price. But what i want to talk about is Seiko quartz technology in Astron series?

Is it any good? I know Casio is in it's own league here, following by Citizen, but i'm sure Seiko can't be that bad?

Seiko Astron is better than any Citizen except Chronomaster. Casio Oceanus is comparable. In my personal ranking, Astron and Oceanus both beat any non-The Citizen. I'm talking about the watches overall.
you can get the entry level of The Citizen with the caliber A060 for around the same price. I would go for The Citizen.
How come?
Pay no attention to him. That guy is the quintessential seiko-hater. Like, bot-level, mindless, drool-over-keyboard, numbskull. Incredible he's still on this forum.

As far as I'm concerned, yes. The solar tunas and some in the coutura line are awesome, to name only those. Obviously the Astron if you go upmarket, as others have pointed.

You can pick up either of those Oceanus....es For around $225-300usd. They are likely the best watch for the money. As for the blue? I kinda like the splash of color honestly. Plus the lume is actually awesome and long lasting.

Oceanus are superb, probably could be a stand alone collection.

I had to dispense with some hillbilly pocket knifery. The hardest part was finding 21mm straps without springbar cut outs. Otherwise it was a pretty easy snip snip.

But truly, it's hard to go wrong with one. The original titanium bracelet is fantastic. All I did was lightly smooth the inner edge since my delicate skin seems to prefer that (I do it to all of my bracelets actually).

As post above, Seiko Astron, is a class above Citizen Quartz in all but the Citizens Chronomaster. Now though, Citizens is above Seiko in the Solar/Quartz Watches, in my opinion with the Eco-Drive. Vance.
Solar quartz, Citizen is better. But force standard quartz, Seiko is great.
I don't know about the Seiko Astron but Seiko is such a great brand. They make beautiful pieces that for the most part are very durable and attainable. Loads of love for Seiko.
I was and still under the impression (generally) Seiko comes before Citizen on the grand scale of things.

What has changed?
It’s just my opinion M8. TBH I wouldn’t want to choose between them on them quality front.

I didn't know 21mm strap never sure why they do that. I might see if any others have 20mm and normal strap.

The OCW-T200S is stainless and has a 20mm lug width with no integrated center lug on the case.

arguably a better looking design, but I really wanted Titanium. Because Titanium is Titanium and its awesome.

Are these as nice in person? Honestly kinda want a T200 as my next watch!

I've only ever had the S100. Phenomenal watch. I can't see why the T200R would be any different.

I understand there are a lot of Oceanus fans out there, but there is no comparison here.
This thread became "Citizen is better then Seiko" sandbox and then got hijacked by Casio Oceanus fans. And yet i think Seiko Astron is better then any of them 🙂
