I just received this model two days ago. It's a Seiko RR solar SNE179.

37.5mm wide, 45mm long, 20mm lug width, it's about 10mm thick. V158 solar movement. It wears larger than the SNK80Xs maybe due to its lug design.

Even though I think the bracelet suits the old school RR watch face well, it's kind of a pain in the b*** to size Speidel style expansion bracelets. So, I put it on a Hirsch sheep band.

I think this is the most legible watch I've ever owned. The lume is weak though.

It's on a brown NATO at the moment. The dial is sunburst finished black, but sometimes it looks blue.

That looks great. Clean lines and a wonderful dial. I love tool watches and RRs are definitely that.

Thanks. The funny thing is that it doesn't look like a Seiko in person. I think that's due to its lug design.

Nice, congrats. I love the easy readability of RR watches. I've seen the white dialed version of this alot but never the black dialed one. If I didn't already have a RR styled watch already, I would've picked one up myself. It looks much better on the leather also.

Thanks. It's back on a Hirsch sheep now.

Do u have a picture of the bracelet? Or you know I could probably just google it but your photography skills are excellent:)
Thanks. No, but I found a good one from eBay.

Thanks Hiro. Much appreciated. Yeah that strap would stay in my watch box that's for sure. Great looking watch. Maybe it's time I picked up and RR watch.

You are welcome and thanks!

I dig the font of the numerals used on RR watches.

I got my father one of these for Christmas. The reasons were that it's solar, easy to read, not too big, from a good maker but affordable. I put it on a thick black matt leather with white stitching. I will post a photo after he's opened his present!

Congrats on your new Seiko Solar! Personally, I think I like the looks of that one on the black strap the best, followed by the Nato strap. For some reason, the bracelet is not quite as attractive as the other two options. The railroad style is a good choice for everyday wear.

I really like that model, I'm usually not one for quartz watches, but solar and chrono quartz are my only exceptions. This one would definitely be an exception.

Shaun

Thanks for the comments guys. I also think it looks best on a black leather strap so far.

This black dial model has been discontinued recently, BTW. So, grab it while you still can. ;-) It sells for around $100~$120 online.

A couple of things I forgot to mention.

The sides of the case are very finely brushed. And the case between the lugs is vertically curved.

Great watch. Tried one on and decided against it at the last minute and went with Seiko Solar Chrono for 20 bucks less. Your making me regret my decision!
