not able to answer your questions, could be some styling from the arrow hand but current SKX's hands are not my liking.

 

I think they're based somewhat on the Tuna hands, but in a diminutive way. Love the actual Tuna hands, always been pretty neutral about the SKX hands.

 

Yeah, I too am not real thrilled with the stock SKX hands. But the lume on them sure is great!

 

Does anybody know the history of how Seiko ended up using its current set of hands that are used on the SKX... Does anybody know how how why that shape was chosen? Was there some earlier examples? Why the move away from the rectangular shape? Why has Seiko stuck with this design for >35 years?

are you doing a book report? if someone said, an original design that was easy to view. how would that help you? or if someone said, it's because it resembles the japanese symbol for ......... does it really matter? and if it really does matter to you, shouldn't you take it upon yourself to research it, instead of getting regurgitated info??

Just interested in the history. So far by reading the various guides (6309, 7002, SKX) here on WUS I've found nothing about the hands on the SKX series divers (and others). I don't even know what they're called.

 

yes... but do you get my point?? it doesn't make you appreciate or hate the watch. i recently found out the ny0040 by citizen was actually used by the italian frogmen... now that's something interesting. hand shape is a design choice, it's not like the shape is easier to see 200m underwater, it's just a design.

 

I would like to know too, am curious to know the minute details of the skx

I think he's come around.

 

I'm not a fan of the SKX007 hands, but they are very functional and fit the retro diver feel very well.

 

 

This guy must be a lot of fun at parties.
