I want to buy a quartz, black-dialed diver. Something that is just grab and go and built for everyday use. I really like the Scurfa Diver One. The size, handset, back story, etc. However, now I am considering the SNE589 as an alternative. They are both at my price point and I can handle the size of the Seiko vs. the 40mm Scurfa.

Does anyone have experience with both? I'm drawn to the Scurfa, but I own two Seiko divers already and really like the brand.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Tony

I have worn an SNE439 on a strapcode as my work/beater for a few years, it can take it and performed well. I retired purely out of boredom and wanting a new work/beater and a deal came up I did not want to say no to. When I saw this SZEV013 and it's cost of under $250 at Sakura I almost pulled the trigger, something to consider maybe, it is 40mm, screw crown 100m

I have two of the smaller 38.5mm solar little siblings to the 589, the SNE587 and SNE575. I love both, and out of all my collection, the stainless 575 is probably my go-to.

But ... I've definitely eyed the Scurfa Diver One and since you have two Seiko divers already, might lean there. Get a taste for the Scurfa and pick up the Seiko in the future if it still calls to you :devilish:

I dont, but if your're not careful or have big hands and small wrists, be prepared to find a replacement clasp hinge. I went through a few of those before finally finding a drop in milled hinge to replace the delicate stamped one at least.

And I say this as a fan of seiko battery quartz, I would rather have it or an ecodrive than seiko solar. And if it had to be solar analog, I'd go eco drive. But seiko has 1 year warranty, plus an additional year if you register your watch on their website. They did a good job fixing my 7s26 & solar, both after the original 1yr warranty expired. Quick turnaround.

Dude, scurfa.

If you like "Scurfa", they have Ti diver ones if you can find this ti bracelet it becomes undeniable. I can't find it in stock, but pretty cool that the SS ones are less than $60. And the bracelets and watches have nice bold clean designs. WTF are those bezels, Al with coating? Can't find in the specs of the ones ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° I'm looking at, but the texture looks incredible.edit overlooked "Black aluminium bezel insert with luminous titanium pearl"
Scurfa huh?

I have 4 Seiko watches. Blueberry, two original monsters and a sports 5. I got the SCURFA blue titanium around Christmas. I like them all, but the Scufa has something special about it. Not everyone has a SCURFA and that makes it a little more special to me.
What he said.
James S. did a hodinkee article on the scurfa vs pelagos (steel vs splurge) and I have to say my scurfa is getting a lot more wrist time.

its surprisingly comfortable, with a thin mid case and titanium. I don't like all Ti watches, but I love this one.
It is super legible (even more so under water with the mild dome).
That proto dial is mesmerizing. the way it plays with light just attracts me.

I'magonnasay Seiko lume is better - at least initially. Both are pretty long lasting (I like the blue of scurfa better though).
Paul is a deep sea diver first, and does Scurfa as a hobby. Its his passion (both diving and watches) and it shows. Love supporting someone like that.

TGN did an interview with Paul. I was expecting an hour talking about watches (like most interviews), but it was an hour talking about diving and almost nothing about watches. I respect that!
(loved the part where he tries to film the helium release valve blowing off pressure, but it happens too fast to catch by camera).

Paul mentioned on here that the next stock would be in around April/May time. If you follow him on instagram or subscribe to the Scurfa thread on here he announces when stock is in. It’s worth the wait.

Scurfa it is. I especially like the no date. Yes, Allison responded to my inquiry on next in stock very promptly. I just need to be patient!

This is what's cool about WUS. I posted this in the Seiko forum and get honest answers! Thanks everyone.

Seiko for the history, build quality, accuracy, and overall design. You can’t go wrong with Seiko. (Cue the Seiko haters.) Especially if you pick one up on the exchange or secondary market. I have a SRP0777 in rotation..
