Hi

Not sure who invented the so called Shark Mesh bracelet - Omega perhaps? Although maybe the fighting dwarfs in the mines of Moriah. I enjoy them and have several -I prefer them to a Milanese bracelet which seems a little too fine for a big diver. Do you wear them?? let's see em

I posted this in the Seiko forum last month:

With sharks on the brain due to shark week and my weekend visit to a beach on Cape Cod, I just took delivery of this band for my Seiko SRP777:

22mm Tapered "SHARK" Mesh Band Stainless Steel Watch Bracelet, V-Clasp, Brushed

I love it so far. The brushed links are flat and not rounded as I expected, which gives it a more milanese appearance. The matte finish suits the brushed finish on the watch. I also like the taper which reduced the mass of the band. It is not as heavy as I thought it would be.

When I first looked at the Strapcode (Miltat) shark mesh bands, I was intrigued by the "winghead" endlink ones, but they were sold out. But I decided to give this one a shot.

Regular Seiko "fat boy" spring bars will not fit through the mesh. I had some of the reduced width springbars at 1.78mm but still have the 1.1mm ends. They fit fine. The relatively close spacing of the lug holes to the case on the 777 do not leave much of a gap between the case and the band.

My wrist is 7" (177.8mm) which when combined with the 45mm L2L of the Turtle gave a size of BC 138-152mm on the Strapcode sizing calculator. The band arrived on the largest size hole of the band, which fit just a little large to start, but by lunch time, the mesh had loosened up a bit, so I shortened it by one hole on the clasp, and now it fits perfectly.

Delivery to N.E. USA was very fast. I ordered this on Thursday, Aug 6 at 3:30 PM EST and took delivery at 10AM Monday, Aug 10!

My first Mesh bracelet, I must say I'm loving it! Used to not be a fan but now that I have one I realize what I was missing.

Love the Shark-Mesh....it's worth the extra $$$ for the premium brands like STAIB.

For sure, quality plays a big part here. I have an all polished kind of cheapish Shark Mesh, which, I want to love but can't tell if it's the cheapish feel or the "all polish" finish that I'm having trouble with. All polish is hard for me in general though so I think that might be a big part of it. Now, I also have a Staib Milanese Mesh that I like a lot more - also polished finish - I believe it's the 1.8mm variety. I really like the look of the thicker Milanese style mesh in many of the pics in the thread as well.

Mesh is cool ... and I want to love the shark.

Digging up a moderately old thread to find out where you all are getting your "unfinished" shark mesh bracelets which go all the way to the springbar (i.e., without the smooth metal bar at the site of watch attachment. I have read of recommendations for Staib and Vollmer, but they only seem to make bracelets with the finished ends. Thanks!

If you mean like this, my answer is ebay, for about $20 a few times now...
