Not only do I admire the stylized sea lion-- the high relief dimensionality of the artwork gracefully floats above its background.

The shape of the caseback itself is remarkable to me also. The saying "melts on the wrist" may be trite, but the truth behind it applies here, imho.

I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do.

Ok, so I don’t get extra points for this display case. But I bet none of you have ever seen this before!
I found it at an antique store about 30 years ago for next to nothing. I think it was like fifty bucks.

My favourite anything changes on a daily basis. Tomorrow it’ll probably be some display back. But today my favorite caseback is the one I designed and had custom engraved for watches that I built myself. But only because it has my name on it (intentionally cropped out in the photo).
