Here are some random shots from a quick roadtrip, taken between Red Wing, Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin - along the Mississippi River. This area is called the 'Driftless Area' because it was never impacted by glacial activity during the ice age. The massive glaciers are what flattened out the middle of America, but this area was spared. As a result, you have tons of steep hills which are impossible to farm, so there is a lot of open/outdoor space. Really pretty place, enough tourists to allow lots of services (plenty of food, hotel, recreation options, but you are never in traffic or competing for resources, I went on hour-long hikes and saw maybe one other person).
